Was this done on CSP? if so it's a legitimate reissue.

If its the s.o.s one, avoid it like the plague - not only is it a boot - but the sound quality is dire.

Think your right it was done on CSP

but not sure if it's legit?

Been under the impression that the CSP label is a legit reissue label for Epic *** Columbia Special Products.

Loads of stuff re-issued on the label - all from the Epic/Okeh/Columbia labels.

I agree with Joe - deffo legit. They were issuing back catalogue stuff on the CSP logo even as far back as the 60s. Mostly LP reissues in those days though. Other labels did limited special pressings for the soul scene in the 70s (RCA, MGM and so on). That's why the sound quality is so good compared to a lot of boots at the time.

Think Neil Rushden had something to do with the "Columbia Special Products" and these are 100% legit

Love The Vibrations record, discovered by Soul Sourcer Tony Rounce I believe

Anyone know all the Northern ones they did?

First batch I remember had:

dana valery - you don't know where your interest lies

otis blackwell -it's all over me

the poppies - there's a pain in my heart

lou edwards - talkin bout poor folks

french fries - danse a la musique

the vibrations - cause you're mine

i think that was all of them, then there were two weird ones, they don't even look like CSP, especially the first:

harry betts - theme from the fantastic plastic machine

bobby diamond - stop

any more?

Not sure if they were the same batch, but:

Shane Martin - I Need You

Lynne Randell - Stranger In Your Arms

Taj Mahal - A Lot of Love

were in there as well.

Yeah CSPs, surely legit re-issues? had a few of them (Poppies, Shane Martin, French Fries, Dana Valery etc) before I could afford to buy real stuff. CORRECTION - before I made myself destitute buying real stuff!

Vibrations fans should be aware that we're about to do a 24 track Epic/Okeh package on Kent. It'll be out in September, and it contains a whopping FIVE previously unissued cuts!...
