The bouncers got wind of what was goin on in the particular route we were takin. They were waitin one night when we dropped in the top cloakrooms from the roof. BUT, other soulies who were in the cloakrooms at the time got in their way and jostled em, Thank goodness. Us? We were off like the clappers. The bouncers knew we were from Blackburn so hung around the left hand side off the casino stage (looking toward the stage ). We just hung around the back of the casino. It went on for fookin weeks I swear. Only problem was, were we were hiding for the wont of a better word, were a load of people who thought "WHAT THE FOOK YOU LOT DOING IN OUR PLACE" Dangerous sometimes at the Casino. Wouldnt change a thing. Circa 1975/6 I think.

Yeh we knocked around with two lasses, i wont mention there names, who were known for taking barbs, anyway the story goes the bouncers pulled one of them into one of the rooms and a beating was handed out, rumours of others things happening to that girl were rife as well, saw the bruises on her face myself though

There were a young couple who had just got married (so I was later informed) and were spending their 'honeymoon' at the Casino, they were both barbed out of their heads and sat on the floor leaning up against the booth when two 'bouncers' came over and dragged the 'groom' through the door at the far end of the downstairs bar area. The 'groom' started to struggle and for his pains was repeatedly punched and kicked... I SAW THIS HAPPEN.. His poor 'bride' hadn't got a bleeding clue what was happening. I can tell you everyone in the bar was completely stunned but none of us did anything but it ballsed our heads up and freaked one or two out. High as a bleeding kite this image was burned into my memory ever since... Never did find out what happened to the poor guy or his lady.. I only hope that the 'bouncer' who did this insane attack was burned when the Casino went up in flames... he deserved it... From an ex-doorman.. BIG MICK (Not all door security were animals some of us did have a code of ethics..
Steve G Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 A bit of a follow on from the wigan casino thread, heard some horrifying stories about the bouncers at wigan, they certainly terrified me as a youngster, some one told me there was a proper gambling den upstairs above m`s? allways remember well siuted n booted people walking through the crowd of dancers in m`s, do you have any stories on the infamous wigan BOUNCERS No real stories about them then, just a bunch of local thugs in trendy brown suits and kipper ties as I remember them. My only encounter was going to wigan with £2 in my pocket and a return train ticket. So I paid my £1.50 to get in and they have system where Mrs Wood gives you a ticket and you give it in to a bouncer on the steps about five feet beyond where you buy it. So I give the bouncer my ticket, and proceed upstairs at which point he says - "hey you - you haven't given me a ticket" (I had). Load of balls really, I am detained for 40 mins telling him that yes I had bought a tivket and yes I had given it to him. He's going "no you didn't, you are not coming in" - tried to mug me for another £1.50 and eventually I convinced him that I only had 50p left, had come up from Kent etc etc. And eventually when he realised I wasn't going to pay again I got in. But what a low lie tosser he was and I wonder how many people he got an extra £1.50 out of? Good riddance, there are no great stories with those thugs!

If this is the same Geoff I remember skinny guy with red hair, he got a right kicking after trying to assault one of the lasses from Warrington. Also remember Harry Green shitting himself one week after one guy had his arm broken trying to get through the door and being pulled through, turning up with his much bigger and older brother ready to kick the shite out of harry. Couple of other memorie, the little room on the balcony on the gents side were the bouncers used to take people in a bad way and beat the crap out of them and Gerry's Bar the bit above Mr M's that few people knew about with pool tables and a card school
