I love them both,

However this one was a Hidden Gem for far too many years.

I wonder why no Single release Originally.

Carla Thomas being the Artist with the Higher profile chartwise.

Agree with Original question, and both could have charted surely.

Allways wondered that myself roger, isn`t there another version of i play for keeps as well :thumbup:

The 'other version' is Acetate only.

An old 'one off' Thorne spin for Rod Dearlove.

Surprised us all when we found the 'finished' mix on the Memphis Queen LP.

Quality either way!

so is that cut also carla thomas then? thanks for info sean :rolleyes: if so theres a couple of people i know who dj with it on carvers, bit strange to me as memphis queen is readily available for around £30 :P

Being a Northern fan if any of the above charted they wouldnt be Northern anymore just pop music and if the charts were full of the stuff i would be a rocker post-1986-1213426324.jpg

Not so much rare but Sam cooke - Sugar dumpling how that was not a chart hit is beyond me but then people would say we can't have it played out

Also Jimmy James - A Man like Me sold enough copies but still not enough to chart and to me both tunes are classic well i love them
