Volumes - My Kind Of Girl - Decca Turkey

Recommended Posts

Was just digging through some records sorting out new stuff to put on eBay, and came across a turkish DECCA copy of The Volumes "My Kind Of Girl" b/w "My Road Is the Right Road".

I'm often amazed by the stuff that was released in Turkey during the 60s, but this is one of the stranger ones in my opinion.

Is there an obvious connection between US Inferno and Decca that I fail to see?

Did this 45 ever get a UK release?

Some scans:

I also have a copy in the original Turkish sleeve posted up a while back. Have shown it to John Manship a few years ago at one of thr Cleathorpes Weekenders, he had never seen one before.

Thanks for the response guys! :shades:

Not entirely unknown then it seems, but fairly unusual and rare I guess.

It does look very nice with that Decca label.

it was quite a big hit locally in detroit and made the national r and b charts. so maybe coz

it made some noise. decca who bearing in mind tried to put out darrell banks over here via

london tried their hand with it. maybe they thought they had the rights to it and thought

maybe no one would notice............... can you see what im getting at :thumbup:wacko.gif altho

i would have said france belgium or holland were more obvious choices

nice one paul, i didnt bother bidding on it, thought it would go for around a ton, considering the u.s. copies were selling for around £50 / 60 at the time, ya got yourself a nice little bargain there methinks
