Reparata & The Delrons - Panic - Bell 12000 -

I have just bought a copy of this for a few dollars, now another appears on ebay.

Quite honestly I hadn't seen one before. >>> LINK <<< It has a Custom Sleeve.

It has the Mala Number............... but uses the Bell Label, as U.K.

Shame the silver foil isn't as fantastic on the picture as it is on the disc.

Yes Mate, It's a beautiful Label. & so Rare on U.K. Bell.

Reparata & The Delrons -- Panic

I was wondering if it was released in any other country,

Judging by this on Beat Club, they must have had a following in Europe.

Reparata & The Delrons - Captain of your ship 1968

Other than U.S.A. , U.K. , and now to my surprise Germany ?

Never seen any copies before from Europe apart from the U.K. one.

I had aGerman one about 5 years ago - sold it for £20 same as the US value

Thanks Mate.

I don't know how many German copies are about.

However,

My guess is that the U.K. Bell is it's Rarest / Most Desirable format.

Yes, that appears to be a bargain for such a great record.

As I said earlier, I hadn't seen one until the other week, which I bought.

Then this one, and your copy that you sold.

Can't be too many about on the German Bell Label surely.

Hi Roger,

How much does the UK format go for?

Thanks P

I bought my BELL DEMO for £40 from ebay within the last year.

Virtually Mint.

The Bell Stock Copy in Mint Condition ain't easy,

Total Guess = (around the same price give or take ?).

Try finding a copy though In Mint condition.

The Stock Copy has always appealed, don't know if it's Demand / Rarity or stuck in collections.

Like I say I'm not too sure on todays price, when funds allow I'm gonna try for the Stock Copy.

Seismic clapping at Wigan with this one, or what?

One of those legendary intros as well, like Connie Clark, Checkerboard Squares etc;

Whenever a topic starts about certain records I always end up daydreaming about who actually found/discovered the said disc. What they thought at the time they first heard it. What there reaction was to the first 30secs until it dawned on them they had a certain winner. And then. FFS wait until everybody hears this rascal!!!!

Anbody any idea who first turned Panic up?

Considering who It is. How many may have passed copies by prior to it being known.

I for one may have. I bought Captain Of My Ship on it's release, considered it a nice Pop record.

I remember searching the second hand shops etc when this little beauty became known.

All to no avail. To this day I still have the Stock Copy to acquire.

Who found / discovered the track, now that is a good question.

That Intro comes in at you like an unstoppable express train, Pure Magic.

Too True Mate, It's one of my favourites.

Can't say that I've seen a Mala Stock Copy.

Ain't It Always The Case, no sooner had I said that I hadn't seen one.

I found this.

I remember thumbing through a pile of these on UK Bell C.1971/2, (in Graduate Records, Dudley - when it was situated above Theedam's the iron mongers!) - several years before it broke and thinking "Hmmm... 'Saturday Night Didn't Happen' (the A-Side) - bit of an iffy title... 'Panic'? that sounds like it might be OK!"

However, the guy wouldn't play it for me as they were "in the cheap box", anyway there were at least a dozen copies so I left it... but when I went back a couple of days later every single copy had disappeared!

It was a massive record at the Cats (C.Jan/Feb. 1974), and when I heard it I was really kicking myself - it sounded fabulous. That beat thundered down those long corridors like a stampede of wild elephants!

I (eventually) got a US demo copy from Soul Bowl, but I prefer 'em in the format they were first played ie. UK Bell, plus I like UK labels - and I've never ever owned one to this day!

I'm almost positive 'Panic' started at the Cats, played on UK Bell. (Possibly the Steve Glover connection again - he was/is a big UK collector) Max would know who turned it up.

However, it was absolutely DEFINITELY played there several months before going massive at Wigan and I have tapes to prove it! biggrin.gif
