Pete S Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Been after this, and it's instrumental version ("My Mob" by The Upsetters) for ages and ages - I got the Upsetters 3 weeks back and lo and behold, the vocal turns up on ebay as a buy it now, £60. Might be a little pricey but well worth it.
Soul-slider Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Is this the same group who have the Amalgamated L.P 'Reggae Fever'?....heard there was a dispute as to whether they were actually the Untouchables of 'Tighten Up' fame. Then heard the Untouchables were the Kingstonians....and it goes on and on.... Great L.P by the way!

Think we may have to disagree on the LP, I thought it was f*cking terrible Untouchables were The Inspirations - both groups produced by Lee Perry. Don't think they have any connection to The Kingstonians though.

Don't think they have any connection to The Kingstonians though. There's a version of the already discussed 'Who you Gonna Run To' (Shades) on the album! It's a Trojan serial number with a Amalgamated label, not unusual though, have several Trojan L.P serial numbers with their offshoot's as labels....Clandisc, Tabernacle, Harry J etc. Best Amalgated L.p is 'Jackpot Of Hits' ...I'm sure you have that Pete, oh and 'Greetings From The Pioneers' is a cracking album too! That's the only 3 albums on that label aint it? Edited May 31, 2008 by Soul-Slider

As is The Pioneers, only had that once.
TOAD Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 DONT THINK THIS LABEL IS A TROJAN ONE AS ITS STUDIO ONE MOSTLY GOSPEL TYPE TUNES
Pete S Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 DONT THINK THIS LABEL IS A TROJAN ONE AS ITS STUDIO ONE MOSTLY GOSPEL TYPE TUNES Looks like a Studio One offshoot. The two colour design and the printing.
Soul-slider Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Looks like a Studio One offshoot. The two colour design and the printing. Oh, well I have an album (UK) by Otis Wright (Gospel/sacred bit of Soul type) with the Trojan 'High Note' logo on the cover/back cover BSLP 5003 and the Neasden Lane address.....label is Tabernacle!!
Soul-slider Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) Just been on ebay and found this.... This is mine.... Sorry about the High Note label pic not very big but that's the way it uploaded from ebay, trust me, it's the same L.P! Also, label on the Tabernacle say's 'B&C' which was Trojan stuff weren't it? Edited June 5, 2008 by Soul-Slider
Pete S Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 Yeah thats a Trojan label alright - B(eat) & C(ommercial) were Trojan's owners. That is some find I reckon!

TLP 1002 The Marvettes sounds the most interesting of the lot, love to see that one.
Pete S Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 Right well from what I can make out, the 68 one is pressed/distributed by Island - same type face as Studio One, Coxsone. The 69 one is pressed/distributed by Trojan. But the point is - is any of this stuff relevant - I'd rather have my teeth pulled than listen to that lot!
Pete S Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 Well, this one is definitely Coxsone! Top design team created that sleeve I bet
