El Corol Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 No, you are definately not the only one mate - my Mrs loves Motown, ska and reggae, and really, really well know NS, but as she puts it "I can't stand that shite that you like that no one's ever heard of!" (I was listening to a compilation at the time and the track playing was "If you ask me" Jerry Williams (I kid you not!!) - so I either go with my brother in law or sometimes on my "billy" to Soul Nights Yeh I know the feeling, by the way......cool name and avatar.............though The Thomas Crown Affair is when he looks the coolest.......those suits!!!!!!! Russ Vickers Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I have been married 20 years, my wife loves soul music, but not with the all consuming passion I have, when our soon was born, her enthusiasm has dwindles, but she still goes to an occasional local do & now & again travels.....................Im that sad, that when we married, I made it quite clear that I was on the scene for the long haul, its a lifestyle & that if she thought that in a few years down the line, I would have me feet up on the dog lstening to AOR, then lets call it day now...................harsh, but true.........................I love her to bits & she is a soul widow in the true tradition. Russ

Big Mick Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 My other half is more into heavy bloody metal, she says her ex used to be a regular at the Casino !! He even left some records in her attic too... jackpot !!!!! She comes along to some venues but her kids think I'm a freak and takes the piss about the dancing moves.. Remember when you saw a Teddy boy in the 70s? and the embarrassing local paper stories with piccies of aged Rock and roll saddos doing charity jives..... Now it's our turn apparently. Anyhow, if you love each other you try to show some interest in what you each enjoy, growing together, sharing together and enjoying music together.... if all else fails dump the miserable cow and get blitzed out of yer nutt and enjoy.... BIG MICK
