Guest Salv Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 There are a few tunes that I remember an older cousin having in about '71/'72 which I've been looking for recently on 45s, but with no luck. These are: The Heptones - Hyprocrite Clancy Eccles - Kingston Town The Eternals - Queen Of The Minstrels I know absolutely nothing about the reggae collectors scene, so are the above hard to find on original 45s? Does anyone know where I can find copies if they aren't too scarce? I've seen copies of Hypocrite on eBay for £2.50 and £2.99, but these are either reissues or are listed with the title Time Will Tell and the description: "STUDIO ONE NEXT CUT OF THE HEPTONES CLASSIC 'HYPOCRITE'" - what does "next cut" mean in this context? Thanks in advance.
TOAD Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 NEXT CUT MEANS ..THE NEXT VERSION OF THAT TUNE KINGSTON TOWN CLANDISC CROPS UP ON E BAY REGULERLY ETERNALS IS ON STUDIO ONE
Pete S Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Kingston Town is actually by Lord Creator and is on the B side of a Clancy Eccles tune. £10 tops. Queen Of The Minstrels, I did have this on blue UK Coxsone but had to sell it, haven't seen one since but would have thought it would be about £80. Easily available as a Studio One repress though for about a fiver.
Guest Salv Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) Thank you both - I look for them every now and again on eBay, so I must keep missing Kingston Town when it crops up. There's a Queen Of The Minstrels on Studio 1 on eBay on buy-it-now for £9.99, but it's just in Good condition, so I'll have a search for one of the cheap represses. And now that I know to look for Lord Creator I've found a few of them. It's so easy when you know what you're doing... Edited May 30, 2008 by Salv
