Ive seen many issues but never a demo or factory sample. If it was, what does it look like and does anyone have a scan available. Would love to see it out of curiosity. Pete S Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 That acetate is Mike Bolderson's I think. Remix? As for the question about the sticker - those sample stickers ruin nice issue copies. The Liberty 'demos' I've seen from this period just have handwritten dates on them.

Ady Potts Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I know for a fact they did 3 presses of this record, because before it became a big ticket item years ago I used to pick up copies when I'd see them around, just because I liked the song. You could find them around for next to nothing. Anyway, I ended up with 7 copies on the shelf & one day I looked at them all on the table together & realised there were 3 variations on how they had printed the title. One was with the title in one long line, the other 2 designs had varying amounts above & below. So I would have thought this would point to Liberty having pressed a lot of copies. Some years back I was selling on Hemel market & a guy came up to me & told me he used to sell new record releases in the 60's via the row of tables I was on. He said to me "Do you know who was my best seller?" I replied the Beatles? "No !" he said "Someone you've probably never heard of, Timi Yuro !" pottsy

Hi Pete, Wouldn't have thought it would have spoilt the look in this case; surely a stickered demo would have a sticker on the A-side "As Long As There Is You", rather than the B-side?

What bugs me about this acetate is the fact that it's an American one - INBOFM was never released as a 45 in the States, I just think it's weird to find a 'remix' of it on a 7" acetate.

I'm currently helping to go through a very large TV station library collection, and there were two copies of this in there. Nearly every single in the collection is a demo, but neither of these were. Apparently they just had writing on the labels...

Nice one and goog on ya. Im dead jealous. As for the posts on the Timi Yuro It seems that there are no demo's which is very interesting. I love SS. Its always a great catalyst for debate. Guest Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I am pretty sure this is a 10" and at the time of selling i was so tempted to put a bid in untill i sealised it wasn't a 7" i spoke to a couple of people about it (dealers) the one concern is why would they put the "b" side on a reference record?? the disc also had a soundfile which i believe is the same version as the liberty 7". i have no doubt that this is a rare item but would love to know the background about it,is it really too good to be true

It is a ten inch single sided acetate and is a few seconds longer than the UK liberty release - it came out of a box of liberty acetates from the states - maybe it was sent over from the UK to be used on the Album - who knows? Anyway cloth ears here couldn't tell the difference between the UK release and the acetate apart from the fact it was slightly longer when you played them side by side. The sound quality was superb so it was straight off a master. It is definitely the real deal and a true collectors piece Mike B
