The Vibrations "Gonna get along without you" on Okeh, it's on vinyl not styrene,

label moulded, matrix scratched into run-out not stamped like on the styrene

orginal I used to have. Is this a 70T's boot maybe ?

Any info much appreciated.

thanks, Chris L

Sorry mate but the ones with scratched in matrix numbers are boots...........one of the better Okeh boots that came out in the 70's...........nearly indistinquishable from an original apart from the matrix number which is stamped on originals.

Thanks Pete

Appears indeed to be a boot....................

I'd like to know if Pete B has conclusive proof that these vinyl copies are boots. Pete S, Sebastian & the others on the other thread seemed to think differently.

As far as I know all the original Okeh records (certainly all of mine) have stamped matrix numbers, and this is something I have always taken for fact over the last 30 years. The official Columbia re releases on Okeh had the small 45's on the label. The later boots looked like the original label but with scratched matrix numbers. The boot demo's are regularly to be had on e-bay for a few quid.

right. but pete smith said that he'd had a few scratched in jobbies over the years, so not sure whether the stamped matrix is worth putting yer hand in the fire for, to quote a spanish saying.

In John Manshp's guide to bootlegs it states........" Excellent bootleg, label looks close. All the right colours and logo. but the vinyl is too heavy and the matrix # ZSP is scratched in. On the original ZSP is stamped in"
