Sam Dees 'fool Of The Year'

Recommended Posts

What a record - just caught up with this on Mick O'Donnels Soul Discovery show and truly a fantastic song which I believe is due for release in the near future. What with the incredible David Sea & Rozetta Johnson 45s hats off to Paul Mooney for pulling these things out of the vaults. Am sure I Speak for many in that these sort of releases need to be fully supported! Apologies for the rant but I find it all very exciting!

Oh and the new CL Blast & Tommy Tate CD's from Soulscape! Southern soul heaven.

Best

Rich

Glad you like it, Rich.

"Fool Of The Year" has had a few spins on Mick's show in the last year or so. And Mike Charlton and Soul Sam have played it at Soul Essence, maybe Steve Plumb too.

It will be released as a limited-edition 7" on Shotgun SHOT 103 in July. More details soon. The flip side will be "Train To Tampa" which we placed in a new movie which is coming out in the autumn.

The master was found in 2006 in the same batch that yielded Rozetta Johnson's "You Better Keep What You Got" and others by Sam, Rozetta, Bill Brandon etc. Three of the Rozetta tracks are on the Soulscape album.

Best regards,

Paul Mooney

P.S. The Tommy Tate album is due out on June 2nd.

Certainly is! I still find it incredible that material like this was/has been in the can. I mean (GULP!) what else is there out there...

Here's a link to the Soulscape page for those who don't know - Soundclips too! The Mary Gresham CD is simply sublime.

For anyone wanting an introduction to southern soul its just as good as place to start as any.
