Guest Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Cheers, it's Vic Livingston, former lead guitarist for The Stairways of Wilmington, DE, USA. Back in 1967, the group went into Frank Virtue's North Philadelphia studio to cut our second 45, a song called "All Souled Out" b/w instrumental version (as was the band's habit). I don't believe the song ever hit local radio, because the record company president demanded that our leader, the late Nino Puglisi, fork over cash to him for "promotion." Nino felt that was the record company's responsibility and refused to pay. As best I can remember, the record company stopped promoting or distributing the disk and we were done with Richie Records. Now Chris Bishop of garagehangover.com in New York City tells me that some UK dealer told him there was an acetate of the record floating about. If this is so, it's big news to us former members of the group, since we never knew about it or even got vinyl copies. Can anyone verify this? Does anyone know of a bootleg version? We just learned a few days ago that our song "Don't You Care" was bootlegged and is a collector's item currently being sought by Julian B and Harry Crosby of your fine chat board. Thanks, mates.
Ernie Andrews Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 This is amazing - Talk about Northern soul comes home to Roost! Please verify who you are with a photo of the band please. I used to be in a heavy metal band when I wa 15-19years and can produce photos so We are all waiting!
Guest Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Ernie, let me go look for the yearbook and hook up my scanner... may take an hour or two to find it and the rest. In the meantime, I have posted a link on an earlier reply to one of the three posts about the Stairways, which will lead you to detailed info from both me and George Curtin, our bass player. Each time I posted the link, it came out garbled. So here it is again, but if it doesn't work, just try to go to the main site before the "/" www.kevin67.com/Remembering%20the%2060's%20Wilmington%20Garage%20Band%20Era.htm Cheers from the USA, Vic Livingston
Guest Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Garbled again! Let me try it one more time: www.kevin67.com/Remembering%20the%2060's%20Wilmington%20Garage%20Band%20Era.htm
Guest Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Ernie: I tried to upload the 1967 photo of the Stairways, but for some reason it wouldn't upload. I will email the picture to Mike at soulsource and hopefully he can post it. Should be there within minutes. Cheers.

Cheltsoulnights Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Hi there The 45 exists as a genuine release on Ritchie Hope this helps
Guest Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Pete French... That's great news about "All Souled Out." I was on the session and the band never saw vinyl on it. Do you know who has it, whether it's been bootlegged, how I could get ahold of a copy or even a mp3. Thanks. "Garman"
