Guest Matt Male Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 (edited) Shirelles - Last Minute Miracle I thought it was mid-tempo? Some of the others are a bit fast or too hard edged to be true mamsy pamsy IMO. Carol Fran is too gutsy as well. Here's a couple that should be there: Walk Softly - Joanne Touchstone Won't You Come Back Home - Pauline Shivers in place of The Shirelles and Carol Fran. If there's one Maxine Brown it has to be 'One Step At a Time'. Edited May 19, 2008 by Matt Male

Chrissie whens the cut off on this or could go on forever It keeps going till it is all red and I have acheived the ultimate wants list, then just need the lottery win I will leave it running a week to give everyone a chance, but nominations will have to be extra specail to eliminate some of the others. mischief Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 It keeps going till it is all red and I have acheived the ultimate wants list, then just need the lottery win QMPxx Maybe I should do a thread as well "best soul record ever under a tenner" How many people need to know what Mamsy Pamsy records are, to make it an official title outside of Blue Skies?

Not sure I know the Joanne Touchstone trying to find a clip now........... QMPxx
chrissie Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 How many people need to know what Mamsy Pamsy records are, to make it an official title outside of Blue Skies? I know of at least 6 people outside Blue SKies that now know what it is...............does that make it a cult and at least as a Blue SKies guest learn to spell it right its MAMSEY PAMSEY QMPxx
mischief Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 and at least as a Blue SKies guest learn to spell it right its MAMSEY PAMSEY QMPxx I won't until its official, then i will spell it right
chrissie Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 (edited) Going to temporarily close the thread in about half an hour while I troll through all the nominations, as there are quite a few I am not thatfamiliar with and need to find sound files to give them a fair chance. Remember Mamsey Pamsey needs to be, female vocal, mid to up-tempo but danceable and of the 60s ilk (and before all the modern fans jump on me for it I know there are some great 70s tracks about but more modern stuff needs to be exceptional to make the list as Mamsey Pamsey is purposely about 60s and 60s feel music) and although as many of you know I love alot of RnB it just isn't MP however good it is. Most of all it needs that spine tingling, hair on the back of the neck, WOW factor Thanks for all the contributions. Will re-open later. and as mischief said, this could run and run QMPxx Edited May 19, 2008 by chrissie
chrissie Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 (edited) Need a sound bite of Antoinette - Lullaby of love, please if someone could PM it or post it in refosoul and PM to let me know its been posted. Ta QMPxx Edited May 19, 2008 by chrissie
chrissie Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 (edited) So far I have listened to and considered about 50 of the 100 and these are a few that are just waiting to be kicked off for whatever reason, all awesome records but just don't quite get there with that "thing" that is MP. Some are spine chilling but a little slow others just aint up there with some of the amazing stuff you all have posted. Barbara Mercer - Hey Beverly Shaffer - Whre will you be boy - nominated by Reg Dawn - Loves a Magic word - nominated by Tabs Dee Edwards - You say you love me - nominated by Paul McKay Dolls - This Is Our Day Dottie and Millie - Talking bout my baby - nominated by Paul McKay Faye Crawford - What have i done wrong - nominated by Jon Downs (Shortersoul) Keep up the good work and if you have any nominations consider the ones above as the ones you would like to see removed. I am struggling for sound bites of a few of them so will post which ones I can't find and would appreciate it if you could help by posting them. Some of these I know but dont have a copy of or on CD and just need to compare them. Sound bites required Antoinette - Lullaby of love - nominated by Paul McKay Carol & Gerri - How can I find a way - nominated by Paul McKay Carla Thomas - For You - nominated by littlemissoul Carol Fran C'mon - Lets Make Up - nominated by littlemissoul Esther Phillips - Nobody but you - nominated by Paul McKay - SORTED QMPxx Edited May 20, 2008 by chrissie

Chrissie whens the cut off on this or could go on forever thought of another Baby I love You Dee Dee Sharpe Already have 2 Jackie Ross in there and my personal favorite is "I've Got THe SKill" so you need to put your argument forward for this one over the other 2. chrissie Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 ok my arguement is... why can't you have 3 Jackie Ross tracks.. maybe she is the High Princess of Mamsy Pamsy of course we have our queen already OK I will consider it, lets see how the votes go and suggest one of the ones I have posted for being kicked out and I will take it on its own merit but we don't want this turning into JR appreciation society...........personally I think she is a High Priestess of Mamsey Pamsey in her own right...........but the ultimate crown is mine Mind you, Jon Downs is doing a good good of stealing it from me QMPxx

Trust me, some of the more up tempo sounds will get booted as will some of the very slowies and more "girlie stuff" but needed to have a "starting block" To me the top 5, in no particular order, so far are:- Rozetta Johnson Lydia Pense Liz Verdi Lyn Vanardo Honey Cone But that could all change very soon .
