Willie Que - I Woke Up Smilin / Go Right Ahead - Dumas Can't find any info on it. Nice li'l RnB thang. I think I bought it assuming, for no good reason, it was from New Orleans. Sounds like it could be - second-line kind'a drums and whatnot. Anybody know anything? juddy pixxburgh

I seem to remember that at least one of the sides on the Rayfield Brown 45 is written by Arthur Wright.

I seem to remember that at least one of the sides on the Rayfield Brown 45 is written by Arthur Wright. This Willie Que one, as pointed out, is 1202 The sides are written by E. Johnson and W. Que. The reason I like it so much (besides being a decent record), is that the Dumas label looks like it was hand-drawn about 15 minutes before the design was due at the press. It's all lopsided and looks like some kid carved it into a tree trunk... juddy
Guest Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Willie Que's "Don't Wait Till Tomorrow", (2:25) on Dumas, #1214, composer Lurl Whiteside, Brother East Music Co. (BMI), is about the most powerful deep soul song I've ever encountered. I LOVE it. Beautiful label design at this juncture, by the way. Silver on black. The flip, "There's Something Wrong With Me" , w/same composer, was probably cut at the same session, and is a high-speed lament. Dance territory, soulful femme bit chorusing. Short, 1:46. Who were these guys? This is superb stuff.
Ady Croasdell Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 The Dumas 1208 is titled Love Hides All Faults and Little Arthur is probably Arthur Wright (I'll find out for defo) as he wrote the flip. For a label with about nine 1964 releases I'm surprised none seem to be in the price guides. Ady
