Dave Moore
Once again a bit hazy on this one as only went a couple of times, do remember a long walk up a hill after being dropped of by bus, any info anyone? Bit hazy is right! Alldayers usually after a 'niter somewhere. Had some great laughs coming down that hill after a skinful of ale on Sunday nights! Can't remember the name of the place now but it was run by Ginger. Don't think there were too many but at least half a dozen around '78/9?. Used to sit outside with Pete Lawson and a few others 'putting the soul world" to rights. Happy days. Link to comment Social source share

Guest topcatnumpty1
Was originally called --"the BAY HORSE" SOULnights on thursdays with Ginger and Eddie.Later became -"Crocketts" --all dayers on Bank Holidays--i d.j.-d there with Dave Raistrick,Arthur Fenn, Soul Sam,Richard Searling, and a others(i played -"Sleepless nights"--having just got it of Dave R.--STILL COVERED UP) THE ALL dAYERS with an all day bar ran about 1978-81, a particularly good one was New Years day (1980?) when Guy H. and myself spent about 2 hrs, looking at my records in the boot of my car--i a howling snowstorm --that never stopped all day--it was fun driving back to Northallerton ,that night.Sounds played--Phantom Janitor,Cecil Washington,Oscar Perry.Paris,Reuben Howell. .People in attendance(that i remember---Steve Campbell,Barry James,Pam Smith,Ron Pedley,Jean Welburn,Guy H. and Martgaret,Mick Moore and Jaqui Green, and so many more. Incidentally it then became a restuarant called -"Crooss-stones" -and is now a private house---it can still be found very easily,as you come into Todmorden from Halifax--take the first right up a big hill--"Cross stone Road" go right to the very top of the steep hill(bloody long way --glad i never walked it Harry!!) and the building is at the very top--opposite the church(where we used to sit on the steps during the all dayers for a chat(!!) the car park is still there round the back. I called in and took some photo,s of the place about 3 months ago,Malc for your project--but can,t work out how to put them up. Malc--the Ukranian Club you mentioned is on the other side of Tod--and still gets used now and again for soul do,s. Good un Harry --well remembered--one of my faves Tony Coleby Link to comment Social source share
