Simon M Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 As far as I know a few funk boys have it , couple of Japanese and a USA collector as Chalky said quite a boring record now

Some more around? tia, andreas If there is one record that I've sold that I would buy back if I could it would be Elipsis. But only for the reason that Soul Sam wouldn't be able to play it any more So for that, I appologise. Great record though. Just a bit, well, over played. 30 copies? At least 20. Some more around? tia, andreas Wrighty got mine a few years ago...I'd only had it about 4 months when he bullied it out of us. I found out that several 'big names' had passed it up at Yarmouth 6 months before I got it as it was pretty much an 'unknown' at that time (think Keb had been playing it a few months). Every man and his vinyl carving mate's got one now, haven't they?
Andreas Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 30 copies? At least 20. ....and always thought it´s a rare record. can´t see any reason why they did a bootleg/re-press on soul spectrum thank you all for your response

This record is not listed in the soul harmony singles book, and it SHOULDN'T BE because there is no harmony on it, it's one guy singing.
Davitz Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Giger Taylor played it in Valencia last month. David May 9th & 10th 2008. XI Madrid Magic Soul weekender. Maria Willigham, Mick H, Peter Hulatt & Ady Lupton
Karlm Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I agree with the overplayed comments, very instant and 50 listenings later you never want to hear it again..
NEV Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I agree with the overplayed comments, very instant and 50 listenings later you never want to hear it again.. yeah a bit like Joseph Webster when you hear it 3 times in one night and over two nights ,you kinda get the picture. Trophy records.....very rare ,but value exceeds the quality of the music Only kidding ,i love it

There must be at least 6, maybe 8 copies on the UK northern soul scene alone? So 20 copies world wide seems conservative? Prestatyn this year, certain DJs seemed to get into a pissing contest playing it one after another. 3 or 4 DJs in a row playing it. Seemed like "It's mine", "NO, it's mine!", "Damn you, I've just paid £3k for it, I'll play it as well", "I had it first, I don't care if three guys have played it before me!" WTF! Great record though, just butchered to death. Edited May 2, 2008 by James Trouble

Guest fryer Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) The Reissue is NOT a bootleg and quite a bit of work went into sorting it out due the the age of the people involved. ALL the records on Soul Spectrum Records are Licenced. The reason we reissued it? great club record , very few copies and huge demand. We have sold them all apart from what we have left on our own site so obviously there was a reason to reissue it. Unreleased Extended 12 inch version of tolbert anyone? Edited May 2, 2008 by fryer
Ernie Andrews Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Fabulous record but I can understand when people say they have heard it too many times- Yes the Gasher has one but Ive heard it thousands of times-WHY? Because the Gasher had it as his Ring tone and it drove me bloody crazy! Dont know what his ring tone is now but I can guess its either the Limelights or the NU-Rons. or it soon will be! Mind you he must be fed up of hearing my ring tone - Jeanette White - Music
Guest fryer Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) No thanks, goes on too long IMO Should sell well though... Got anything else lined up? James or a moderator can you please remove that tolbert recording from site right away, james that was given to you as you could check it out and you were told it was for your ears only, you know that. if you dont remove it right away youll be hearing from gerald lawyer. you are way out of line. Guest fryer Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Hi Motherfunk. So is this the single version or an extended remix from the master tapes or from a dub of a 45. Im openly calling for james to be banned for knowingly posting that master it was not a mistake he was refusing to take it down untill gerald called him to let him know what the next stage would be if he did not do so. We work hard to do things the right way and for him to post this is not only illegal but a total disregard for artist / copyright holder and our hard work sorting it all out.

I can´t understand why you give the full master out of your hands before the release is on market
Guest James Trouble Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 No taste in coffee either then I wasn't paying. Besides, the music is better in Starbucks than Costa
Guest fryer Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I can´t understand why you give the full master out of your hands before the release is on market Aparently now that he has fallen out with us becuse we dont take his crusade to become the most important dj on the northern soul scene seriouly he thought it would be o.k to stab us in the back. yet again its backfired as he shown himself to be an untrustworthy snake in the grass. Its good that hes done it in public so everyone can see what a spitefull little weasel he is.
davidwapples Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 https://www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk/ choose new 12"s in stock for £6 , plus postage brilliant service from these ordered and came next day for some 45s
Guest James Trouble Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) Motherfunk took three months to pay for a £400 pound record which I let him have on trust because he doesn't have much money and I felt sorry for him. He eventually paid me almost all the balance, and has now done a paypal charge back, taking the cash back out of my paypal, which are ticket sales from Soul Revolution as it happens. Of course, there is no protection against theft like this. Paypal gives scum like Motherfunk the power to steal with no come back. I'm afraid that I have to tell folk on this site to be careful selling records to or buying records off Motherfunk, or Fryer, as he is likely to steal you cash through paypal charge back. Some people in this world will stoop to pretty low levels for a few quid... euan fryer has opened a dispute for the payment made to you on 29 Apr 2008 indicating that they never received the item. ----------------------------------- Transaction Details ----------------------------------- Buyer's Name: euan fryer Buyer's Email: fryer@fryersrecords.co.uk Buyer's Transaction ID: 9X9920431E6282743 Transaction Date: 29 Apr 2008 Transaction Amount: -175.00 GBP Your Transaction ID: 9X9920431E6282743 Case Number: PP-468-125-924 Seller's Transaction ID: 2RK57175Y9366525S Your Transaction ID:9X9920431E6282743 Buyer's Transaction ID:2RK57175Y9366525S There are many reasons why this might have happened. It could be that the item is still in transit or was accidentally delivered to the wrong address. Sometimes buyers open a non-receipt dispute too soon because they underestimate how long it can take for postage and delivery. By opening this dispute, euan fryer is asking for your help to resolve this issue. This is your best opportunity to resolve this problem before the buyer escalates it to a PayPal claim or contacts their card issuer about opening a chargeback. ----------------------------------- What to Do Next: ----------------------------------- Most of the time, disputes can be resolved quickly and amicably by communicating with the buyer in the Resolution Centre. There, you'll be able to review the dispute details, post messages back and forth with the buyer, or ask PayPal to decide the case by escalating this dispute to a claim. - Log in to your PayPal account - Click the Resolution Centre tab - Review the dispute details - Post new message to buyer To learn more about PayPal's dispute resolution process, log in to your account and click the 'Guides' link on the Resolution Centre tab. ----------------------------------- Timeframe ----------------------------------- euan fryer can escalate this dispute to a PayPal claim at any time until 22 May 2008. On that date, this dispute will automatically close. We encourage you to respond to the buyer as soon as possible. A buyer who feels that you are working with them to resolve a problem is less likely to escalate a dispute to a claim. Keep in mind that the funds associated with this disputed payment may not be available for withdrawal until the case has been resolved. Thank you, PayPal Edited May 2, 2008 by James Trouble

Andreas Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 Rather than taking sides Ian, why not close the thread for a while ? please not, that name-and shame campaign is very entertaining
Ernie Andrews Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 What is this all about- If Motherfunk owns the rights then he is a fool for giving anyone the master unleess he has in writing that the person who he gave it to must not divulge the content to a wide audience other than personal listening eg Him & His mates! If Motherfunk doesnt own the rights then its got nothing to do with him and is just sour grapes. P.S Motherfunk dont use the common phrase of I got 1000 witnesses because in reality everyone only has a very few friends who are willing to stand in a court to support you! JT smack on the Bottom if you knowingly betrayed a confidence. If Not Post the F**king thing up again as I missed it!
Souljazera Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 isnt there a reason why we like this music? political tribalism aside... i assume that soul spectrum paid a fee to license the record..as is the normal method of doing business. i too like it but am TOTALLY FED UP of hearing it along with TOLBERT bored to death of that too... shame that so many records get ignored but so many chase so few..TROPHYISM INDEED.. i shall be putting this into the new DSM disorder manual for OCD. weekend here so everybody get HAPPY.
Mike Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 closing this suggest that all involved sort this out via other means if any involved want to edit, remove posts etc the edit should still work
