45cellar Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 (edited) These two records were Originally released in the U.S.A. and they are quite Rare. Due to demand in the 70's these two were released in the UK using the same layout as the U.S.A. White DEMO -------------------------ORIGINAL U.S.A. Prophonics 2029 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Ultra Sonic never seen any like that, most of them are Virtue stamped.
45cellar Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 Ultra Sonic never seen any like that, most of them are Virtue stamped. Yes, that's what I thought. I bought the two Mickey Lee Lane copies from Soul Bowl. Not sure if it is just that release, or others as well. Thought that I would highlight the Stamp, purely for the reason that you don't see it very often.
Guest Gogs Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 don't think you will be able to make it out but this is stamped mastering recd-at phila

45cellar Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 just looked again with a better light that's it but no audio matrix stamp Sorry, My fault, I wasn't suggesting that it should have. I was just using this Chubby Checker record to show the "MASTERING RECO-ART PHILA" That is a very nice Swan DEMO that you have there mate. First time that I have seen one.
Guest Gogs Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 so we have a "ultra sonic" a "virtue" & a "mastering reco-art phila" stamp, why? maybe pressed at different plants? or at different times?

Yes, a bit of both I think. Here is a >>> LINK <<< to a Beatles Swan Records Site. Looks like the Early ones were mainly pressed at "MASTERING RECO-ART PHILA" However , some are Manarch STAMPED as well. Looks like an East Coast / West Coast thing happening too. Dancing Party definitely early & your Sammy Sevens is an early number. Edited April 26, 2008 by 45cellar
Guest Gogs Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 just checked out swan label discography site sammy sevens is listed as pressed in 1963 although it has his name as sammy stevens.

Mmm! Interesting, 1963 is Spot On, I have just had a look at the CD "Swan's Soul Sides" from Kent. Definitely Sammy Sevens. Possibly a Typo on the website That's where I got the reference to "Chubby Checker" sound-alike. Just noticed "And In Return" is on That CD, That will teach me to skip tracks, Doh!
