Seems to be quite difficult to get a first issue these day's, has it dissapeared?, never hear it played out, cracking record, any views?

Lenny

Agreed lenny on of my favourites, and you never hear it out now, havn`t seen one for sale now you come to mention it for many years now, wasn`t it also on an lp CAVIAR & CHITLINS if my memory serves me right, but yes top tune imho

How do you tell the first issue Lenny? I've had this in the 70's from John Anderson I seem to remember, orange RCA in a company bag.

It was a bit too fast at the time! (played a lot by Blue Max at the Cats, C.January 1974) Great side though, eh?

RCA 9723 seems to be the first one mate, thats the one i've got, there's no mention of a black issue in JM's book, the yellow one is of course the demo and the third one in the picture seems to be a re-issue, need a bit more confirmation tho,

Thanks Harry, I know that you used to collect Black Issues.

Often wondered if any were produced during the Label Design change over.

Don't think it ever got a UK issue on a 45. The Contempo issue is a re-recording.

Therefore, the "A Little Bit Of Soul" album remains the UK original, along with Willie Kendrick.

Is it just me that would have thought of it as not being hugely quick? To me 'quick' is "I'll Be There" biggrin.gif

Banks-Rooney. They wrote all the songs of the LP but one, written by Kelly-Banks.

I think there's a good crossover track on the LP as well but I can't remember the track. I remember buying the UK Contempo version of "Blowing up..." and the disappointment when I heard it was unbelievable. Absolute pile of... compared to the USA RCA version, and there was no indication that it was gonna be different from the far superior USA version.

Hey Roger!

Thanks Peter,

I have been practicing with a couple of freeware programs that I found.

Starting to use the technique for record scans in "The Sharp End Of Vinyl".

I will try to keep it pleasing to the eye, and not become psychedelic, or anything like that.

Ignore me.

For some reason i thought i had a British RCA issue, but i just dug it out and it is US. Plus i always thought it was a second issue, but turns out it's a first issue, so even better. thumbsup.gif

OOps, forgot all about that one. I did get it at the time of release as well. Obviously the long term memory is on it's way out as well now ohmy.gif

"Movin' Too Slow" is a good track too.

Movin' Too Slow was played by Wigan Paul at 'In The Groove' in Southport a couple of weeks ago, it sounded great. Never heard it before but had the same backing track as another old tune but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Can anyone post it as a sound clip?

Sean.

Many thanks Roger, I'm very impressed. You're right it is a good tune.

You've just solved something that's been buggin me for three weeks (since I heard it first). I thought it had the same backing as something else, but it hasn't. It just reminds me of Reggie Garner- Hot Line.

Cheers mate,

Sean

Time to get those tunes off the shelves me thinks. I'm sure you'll agree Paul. Back of the box stuff and underplayed oldies seems to be the essence at the moment. And about time too!

Along with the new up tempo raraties we're hearing, the likes of Burnley, Lifeline and Lowton DDA, the scene has become exciting again!

All the best mate, Sean.
