Anyone got the Freda Allyne or know if Pugsley Munion, Mae Moton, Catha Morrison, JJ Simmons, Trudy & Bobby, Lee Pratt etc. You can see how they went out of business!

And who were Sity & James and Carolyn & Sam while we're at it?

I have the Trudy & Bobby on J&S and Sity & James on Sprout. But have no idea who they were.

I also have something on J&S ( yellow label ) in mint condition and you can see why when played - not very easy on the ears really !

I initialy thought it was an early 60's Detrioit label but could not find any info on it and nearly sold it at car boot last year but it was to good looking and decided to keep it.

I will have a look for it within next few days and let you know more details.

Thanks I'm intrigued, it was an odd group of labels (Sprout and Junior Achievement too) but very interesting to unravel.

that's one of the hit records on the label, right? not rare.

I have the freeman brothers if you need a recording of it or something. I have an older doowop compilation CD called "J&S the hits of harlem" or something like that. Thanks.

Thanks Graham and Bob, I'm OK for those two, yes the Trouble I've Had was probably the only hit they had in the soul era. I'm OK for Clarence Ashe it's those weird duets and Jimmy Armstrong that I need most.

I have a Jaynetts on yellow label J & S 1473 .

A-side "peepin' in and out the windows"

B-side "Extra extra, read all about it"

Both sides arranged by Horrace Ott / produced by Zell Sanders.

Don't know if it's known or not?

I think "Peepin" has same backing as something?

Thanks but the Jaynetts are quite well known as they had a girl group hit with Sally Go Round The Roses and the rest of their releases are relatively common.

PS Freida was a J&S label too, I only know Pat Garvis on it.

I just noticed in the soul harmony singles book there is an Endeavors "suffering with my heart" listed in J&S 254. It doesn't even have the flip listed, must be rare. I don't know if you know this title already, I don't have it.

Thanks Bob, that's another to add to the list that I'd love to hear/see.
