Soul Nights In Amsterdam?

Hi All,

Firstly, sorry if i have posted this in the wrong place.

Does anyone know if there are any soul events in Holland? Im going to Amsterdam next month and was wondering if there was anywhere to go (im going Sat 10th May for a few days).

I have been to the Soul Kitchen, but didnt really think much of it.

I thought there was one in the events calander but i can't see it now.

Our head office is in Rotterdam so i've just emailed a couple of people to see if they can find out for you!

I used to get to Amsterdam alot and have never found a decent rare soul/ northern night although I've been to a good few disco/ jazzy / house events there that have been outstanding.

There's a record shop called rush hour records and the blokes in there know of everything that is going on in Amsterdam. I'm certain they'd give you some advice if you called them. Their website is www.rushhour.nl. Cheers Jason

Think that must be the "Amsterdam Soul Club" rugbysoulgirl. Usually on later in the month than when Paul76 is going next one is this Sat.

Usually features a Motown/soul covers/tribute band and DJs playing the Dutch version of "northern/60s". Starts about 10 and goes on 'till around 4 in the morning. They have a "myspace" page if you need to check further. Venue is pretty central has a cheap bar and you can skin up if you want (smoking ban arrives in Holland this July )

Best thing about it for me is the archive films which are projected on 2 large screens during the night some great footage of lots of soul heroes.

Apart from that I think theres a regular funk night but I don't have any details

As Jason has said Rush Hour records will have all the info on more contemporary nights Waxwell records may be worth checking too.

Also worth remembering that most clubs don't really get busy and lively 'til about midnight so its a good idea to pace yourself
