Guest Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Hi Im new on this forum so am not sure how discussion threads work but Im gonna throw one into the pot and see what happens. Its a bit of a vague "do you know the one that goes like that"... in fact its exactly that... Im after an old soul/jazz tune that I had on tape a few years ago (no longer have it otherwise Id post a clip!) and its basically an epic journey through the great names of soul and jazz almost narrated by a female vocalist over a really lazy chilled bassline. She talks of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Minnie Ripperton, Aretha Franklin and many many more artists all "having it" or "saying it" then the chorus talks about inspiration and knowledge. And then back into more artists and so on... This is a really vague horrible description that Id be embarrassed to do in person but hey... its worth a shot. Anyone with any pointers or ideas then please fire them on over. Id be massively grateful. cheers Mark
Guest James Trouble Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 If you get no luck over here, try over at www.deepfunk.org, there are lots of "beat diggas" over there who know about albums and big records.
Mike Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 really lazy chilled bassline if it wasn't for the above would suggest Paulette Reaves 77 Jazz freak, no time to dig it out to check which artists get a namecheck but sounds same sort of format, but just cant fit it in with parts of description You did say "old" so slight maybe
