I know there is Monumenal and McNasties in London... But, does anyone know of any venues that play Modern Soul in Kent or Essex... I particularly enjoy Five Special, Beloyd, Wizdom, and Ebony Alleyne, plus many others. If you know of any, please let me know

I think there's a few things going on depending on your definaition of modern soul. There are do's at Henry's in Aveling(? I think I've got that right). Chris Hill still does the Lacy lady in Ilford but I believe this is mostly Caister type stuff. Probably not exactly what you're after but that's about the closest I can think of. When I sort something out in Kent, I'll let you know.

Yep, Soul @ The Ship in Leigh has a very friendly crowd despite their heretical devotion to the devil's musak . I also hear that there is a Soulful R&B / Modern Soul event at Ashwells Country Club, Brentwood, this Saturday 26th April, 2pm to 2am with live appearances from Nicole Jane and Nathan Watson who I am sure are renowned virtuosos of their genre.
