Theres a lass called LESLEY from sunderland, lives with kev joss from newton aycliffe now, she`s a fantastic dancer, and from what i understand has been for many years having won many dancing competitions, great dancer

Got the name right Harry (it's Les Richardson) she never lived in Sunderland though. Newton Aycliffe girl born and bred. The leading line is correct though "It Is In The Blood".

 - for God's sake don't ask him if he is a pirate. Ciara did and he was very very annoyed and said she was being racialist. we still haven't found out if he is a practising pirate

I thought he looked more like Hong Kong Phooey - anyway for me the two Swedish girls Hanna and Helena take some beating, so graceful and lovely to watch

get a grip....if you dance to look good it's false however if you dance how you feel when the record you like is playing then that is dancing however it looks....children of the night  ....it's not about how you look ...how you feel is best

Then there was

Mark 'Thatchie' Thompson.......used to raise the roof whenever he did a spin, no one could 'match' him. Used to see him at loads of venues, think he was from Devon way?! Think he stopped when Wigan closed. That was the last straw for him....favourite tune was 'my little cottage'.

Butch Drage was an awesome dancer, effortless in his technique & also I was in awe of Dennis Lee.

KTF

Baz

I think he won one of the Wigan dancing comps back in the day. He was the only one I ever saw who could spin one way at a million miles and hour then spin back the other way without stopping. His acrobatics were stunning and completely reflected the music playing. Truely awesome.

Steady joan

When I go to a nighter I get on the floor and do my own thing all night, I don't look at any one else and I don't give a flying fook if any one is looking at me, the sweet soul music is what I'm there for full stop.

I have always hated knobbers who have no rhythm but can do acrobatics and I despise those posers who wait until the last hour to stomp while the rest of us are dying on our feet!

The dancing that some refer to on here was strictly Wigan Casino and became very embarrassing after the Casino closed and the second wave got busy getting real and hard corps!

Chucking yer sen around the room like a fookin lunatic was not very cool and a more reserved but still technically skilled dance took shape on the dance floors of all-nighters.

For some time mega fast stompers lost their appeal and a more discerning soul fan dances and evolved as did the fashion and punter.

Dance, well music and dancing for me is what it's all about but to dance to show off or to dance to compete kinda misses the point.

Have a look at last years Blackpool dancing competition, its on youtube, cringingly embarrassing me thinks.....

Didn't rate Sandy as a dancer, personally I thought he was pap, there were plenty of better dancers round at the same time, Little Paul (Bradford), Chris Earle aka Sparky (warrington), Vernon (Bradford), Jaquie Temple(Darlington) R I P..... to mention a few. His footwork was crap, granted his splits were good but come on that ain't dancing.

Do you remember Chris Early entering the world disco dancing competition, which was shown on TV at the time, dancing in top hat, tails and a cane?? Now he was a poser

Just read through this and amazed none of the welsh lads have been mentioned............watching them 'warming up' at Blackwood stute before heading off to Yate, Stafford and the rest.........awesome, made me get into the music and tag along when I was 18.....

'Der'...........knew every word, thoroughly loved the music, amazing footwork!

Alan Kent................Mr cool and Smooth, think he could dance too, but it didn't matter anyway

Snowy Price...............wonder if he's still wearing his white trench coat

Then there's Nigel from Porthcawl..............such gorgeous hair, envy of every girl in the room...could dance too!

Remember a girl from Gloscester, think her name was Karen, always wore Dr Martins and had a skinhead??????????, she was brilliant

There wasn't many on the floor at Porthcawl who couldn't strut their stuff............but then the Welsh have always had rhythmn :wicked:

Also another guy who use to dance the same style. He was a big tall kinda half caste looking chap. I think his nickname may have been Scatcat but i cant be sure.

Have to say I have never been a fan of those kind of antics... not what I'd class as dancing from your heart... but hey... that's just me.

Always loved watching Guy Hennigan dance... totally unique and soooo cool.

As for dancing from the heart... they don't come much more heartfelt than our very own Captain... Chris Morgan.

Oh... and John Weston... watching this guy dance ALWAYS lifts my heart... I reckon the NHS should prescribe a dose of 'John Weston watching' instead of the time honoured Prozac

Guys like Chris and John may not be 'technically' brilliant dancers... but what they give from their heart more than makes up for it... and that's what's important in my book!

GREAT STUFF

spot on joan, some people hardly move at all, but inside thier heards the music is doing its job, anyone who has a dance at anytime ,anywher, is as good as any other to me.........just enjoy yourself, ezzie biggrin.gif

ps seein greeners face at lowton said it all

Liam Q is on this video and he is a great dancer the fact the music for the dance comp was shit and liam had been up 24 hrs previous and still danced he is much better than the video shows and anyone who knows him will tell you the same do agree though that some dancers were a bit cringe worthy Liam for one is not 100% soul boy

Ive watched Liam dance and he is totally mesmerising you cant stop looking at his feet and he is so modest and a really nice bloke to boot..but to be fair i dont think it was Liam that Simon was refering to particularly in his post.

This could be Mick Andrews from Leyland - used to be in the Navy. I've got a photo somewhere - looked liked Chris Amoo out of Real Thing but taller. Always wore dungerees and looked AMAZING and danced like a dream.

Flipper Mcgee, from Farnham is my last entrant for 'best ever'. You guys having been throwing names forward willy nilly! How could you not mention the great 'Flipper' or 'Flip' as he was known to his mates.

His name said it all, as happy on his hands as he was on his feet, he had ALL the moves and I mean ALL...

He could front flip, side flip, back flip, dip flip, flip flop, flap flip (difficult move, not even Billy can do it  ), flop flip, flip flack, flip flip and if the fancy took him he would throw in a double twisting flap jack! So, there you go, the greatest ever. END OF THREAD!

Where is he now?

I just think that it's a fookin crying shame that those imminent dignitaries of Northernsoul couldn't fook these two pair of knobbers off who where obviously pro/am dancers who mimicked northernsoul dancing and made it look like a West End interpretation of Northernsoul meets the Ministry of Funny fookin Walks!

I say shame on you, you made us all look a little silly and to the many thousands of Youtubers out there who don't go to all-nighters and see what is being served up I hope you can see past this pantomime. :wicked:

I had a thing for Kathy Kirby - the singer , not the lass from Leeds laugh.gif .........

Malc Burton

it was the way her...er... you-know-whats swelled out of her dress when she took a breath right? Got me as well :-)

Sandy Holt was the best dancer I ever saw. I still see him most days as I park my car near to his thai-boxing school.
