jonbuck Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) Heard a bit of Disturbing News Regarding Jethro Jones from Wolverhampton - Jethro Was Out @ A Dance Club in The USA. I Am Not Sure of The Exact Location - But My Friend John Fazer From Hemel, Spoke to him Last Year & He Was In LA @ The Time - Anyway He Was Dancing Away in His Own Unique Style, @ A Music Club in A Major City of The USA, When He Was Surrounded By A Group of Afro-American's, Who Took It Apon Themselves to Be Judge & Jury, And Decided That Because of The Way That He Was Dancing, That He Was GAY - It Was Then That The Large Gang Of "BLACKS" Decided to Kick The F*ck Out of Him - Apparentley He Was Quite Seriously Hurt in This incident But Not Fatal - I Thought That The Music & Club Scene Had Broken Down A Lot of It's Social Barrier's - This Incedent is Deplorable & Jethro WAS NOT GAY & Never Gave That Impression - Now Jethro's Dance Style is Very Similar To The Style Of Keb Darge with Less Floorwork - But A Lot Smoother Around The Edges, He Always Had Smoothness & Grace When Dancing, One Thing That Makes Me Sad About This Incedent is That I Know That Jethro Had So Many " Black " Friends over the Years - & His Undying Love for Black MUsic.... And to Note That Jethro Jones along with a Few others including Glenn From Leicester Were Actually The First Real Northern Dancers on UK TV Dancing To Footsee on Top Of The Pops in 1973.... Jon Buck Sad to hear that. That's the guy Craig Westwood used to knock around with? Saw him dance a few times he was a cooool mover.
Pete S Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 He was a living legend round here in the 70's - hero worshipped in fact. His Wigan coach was well dodgy though
Guest Soul Sid Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Sorry to hear about Jethro. What goes on in some peoples heads to make them want to do that to someone because of the way they dance? Its sickening. Sid

macca Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 (edited) I think that the fact that he was perceived as gay is irrelevant. I mean who cares? What is deplorable is the act of violence itself. Was it really a case of, to quote Lou Reed, hey white boy, what you doin' up town? I thought Footsee was 1975... M Edited April 11, 2008 by macca

Guest gordon russell Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 remember jethro when he first started coming up the CATS with his girlfriend....a very shy and timid couple they were too. Those were the days before he started wearing that silly green hooped top of his.His mate paul derby was a great dancer in those days, when being a good dancer was cool...Made my toes curl when he danced on top of the pops to some pop tune.Shame to hear this happening to him ...hope he's ok
