Wilxy Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 What is the score as to the legitimacy of Detroit sound patterns acetates with regard to "originality", as I have a few such as Eric & the vikings -Hurting, and Pearl Jones-Give me another chance both on 10 inch acetates (both are double sided)albeit the latter has a sticky label stating the artist as Barbara Mercer, and whilst I appreciate the likelihood of some tracks in this format could be laid onto blanks I'm sure there is the knowledge on these boards to enlighten me somewhat

He still runs an independant mastering service in Detroit and has worked for just about everyone in the city.

The 'Barbara Mercer' sounds as you suggest, a modern cut using a vintage label?
Md Records Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 The "Eric & Vikings" Acetate was originally Guy Hennigans, whereas the Barbara Mercer Acetate came via yourself Dave, and is of more recent vintage. Des Parker
Anoraks Corner Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Mike, I've just stumbled across this old scan of the Eric & Vikings 10"...a GM acetate. Any chance of a scan of the Sound Patterns ones?
Guest Dan Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 (edited) neil rushton may be able to shed more light if needed - he brought out the eric and the vikings on kool kat in the mid 80s Edited May 10, 2008 by Dan
Dave Rimmer Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 neil rushton may be able to shed more light if needed - he brought out the eric and the vikings on kool kat in the mid 80s and probably had something to do with the Barbara Mercer because that came out on Joe Boy didn't it ?
