lost dream boy side has a sticker saying "lost dream boy" by Doris Webb and the other side is blank white. the song does say "lost dream boy" in the very last lyric, so the record is not mis-labeled. wol says barbara meyer.

is this an unknown 45? can't find it in any books or any sites!

anyone know anything about this? anyone interested? pm me an offer!

after looking at the sticker super close and in really bright light it's hard to make out but it's actually a "b" at the end of her last name. so her name is doris webb, not webi.

HMM,

well i knew it was more of a 60's pop record leaning towards country but i thought, you never know some girl group or popcorn fan might be into it. didn't think it was going to be huge or anything, i was just experimenting. sometimes people like some god awful songs, but this one is good for what it is.

It says on my copy 8/03/63 my mate listened to the clip, I listened to it as well but he won it from you on ebay so I had to get a copy as well.

I have heard a lot worse than this so thanks for sharing it with us Vinty.

AMAZING! - just found this website. i actually played tenor sax on two other songs by doris webb. i knew she had recorded the two songs found on this website - ive been searching for them for about 30 years !! the two songs that i played backup are "blame it on johnny" and "he's the most" can be found on the gary paxton cd titled "boy trouble". our band's was "the dynamics" aka "the royal coachmen" from bakersfield, circa 1964.

had the below info passed on to site... [have moved topic outta sales]

Regarding the Doris Webb record of Lost Dream Boy, I probably know more about it than anyone else because I produced it.  The other side is Kiss Goodbye.  The record you have is one of a group of 100 copies I had RCA press.  When it was finally on a label I created, it sold well in Doris' home town of Bakersfield and a few other locales; enough to sign Doris to Fred Astaire's Ava Records.  Lost Dream Boy was then released nationally and had solid sales in some eastern states.  That was enough for Ava to commission me to produce two more songs by then 14 year old Doris.  I had a friendly relationship with Gary Paxton so I got together with him.  The songs chosen were He's The Most and Blame It On Johnny.  For He's The Most, we included a fine backup group The Blossoms for a finishing touch (they did back up work on many records including some by Elvis).  Unfortunately Ava wasn't able to release this record because Uncle Sam had shut them down and confiscated everything they had, including Doris' record sides which I believe would have sold really well.  Gary Paxton had. copies of the original recordings and was later able to use them on one of his Garpax Girls LP series, where you can hear them now.
