45cellar Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) All are Stamped Matrix on STYRENE Originally, First Issued with an Incorrect Title.-(ORIGINAL DEMO)-GEORGE CARROW ANGEL BABY (You Don't Even Love Me) / BRING BACK MY HEART-(ORIGINAL RED LABEL) -GEORGE CARROW ANGEL BABY (You Don't Even Love Me) / BRING BACK MY HEARTThen a DEMO Issued with the Correct Title-(SPECIAL RUSH RESERVICE)-GEORGE CARROW ANGEL BABY (Don't You Ever Leave Me) / ANGEL BABY (Don't You Ever Leave Me)But what happened NEXT- Has anyone seen EITHER A Correctly Titled Red Stock Copy OR A DEMO for the Grey Label Copy (Grey Label)-GEORGE CARROW ANGEL BABY (Don't You Ever Leave Me) / BRING BACK MY HEART Two Questions after years of searching. Following all of that trouble getting the Title Correct & the Rush Reservice DEMO, was there a Red Stock Copy with the correct title, or was it shelved Until the Northern Interest years later......? The Grey Label was a Re-Issue due to Demand, but was there a DEMO. Anyone know. Edited June 20, 2013 by 45cellar

I got a grey, but always thought it was a boot, was this ever booted then? Steve
Jerry Hipkiss Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I got a grey, but always thought it was a boot, was this ever booted then? Steve Resurrecting this thread as I'm playing this on t'radio at the moment, the grey is a legal repress from about '73. Forgotten how powerful it is!
Guest Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I had a message from George's wife when i put this on youtube. She was adamant that the record i posted (demo with incorrect title) did not exist!!!! George was unaware of it. I did another short youtube with the above scans and information so he could see the different releases of his record - never heard back again though.
Ernie Andrews Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I always thought the Grey copy was released in conjuction with the Re-rush service demo. as the CSP ones were released in the Mid 70s along with French fries Etc

45cellar Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) I hope you're right, but I thought they were done around the time of the Torch! Many Thanks for the Extra Information relating to this Question. So much has been lost through time. Interesting comments about Incorrect Title copy from George's Wife. Looking at the Style / Layout of the Rush Reservice to the Grey Label I have always assumed different period of time regarding press. Edited May 18, 2009 by 45cellar
Jerry Hipkiss Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I always thought the Grey copy was released in conjuction with the Re-rush service demo. as the CSP ones were released in the Mid 70s along with French fries Etc Are you sure it came out on the red CSP series? Can't recall that one!
Sebastian Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) Looking at the Style / Layout of the Rush Reservice to the Grey Label I have always assumed different period of time regarding press. The "special rush reservice" text can be seen on loads of Columbia 45s that for some reason got re-promoted to radio stations, either with a different edit of a tune, as mono/stereo dj copies, because of a pressing/printing error, or flipping the b-side to a-side in case the intended b-side started to get radio plays. They were all, as far as I know, done at the time of the initial release of the tune in question. Here's a whole bunch of them: Edited May 19, 2009 by Sebastian
45cellar Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Many Thanks Sebastian. Guessing now that it all happened pretty quick, with minimal if any Royalties (From Incorrect Title Stock Copy) i.e. Did it ever reach the Shops?Non from Promotional Material, could explain comments from George's Wife.
Guest Perception Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Another piece of the jigsaw falls into place!!! The first red issue is rare, but this correct spelling issue copy must be a lot harder to find!
Concrete Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) Sorry bout that I can't recall a red csp issue but I remember buying this one along with Bernard Purdies Fickle Finger of Fate at the Casino one night. Credits are expanded to include A Moy on the later? Issues Edited May 10, 2011 by concrete
45cellar Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Many Thanks for posting this one, I wonder if this release & the Grey release were ever Promoted. Either using Sticker or White Label. Noticed that A Moy was Included in the writers credits from the Rush Reservice onward.
Jerry Hipkiss Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Many Thanks for posting this one, I wonder if this release & the Grey release were ever Promoted. I'd say doubtful Roger, as they were both done for our scene - has anyone ever found a grey copy in the US?
45cellar Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 I'm sure you're right Jerry, such a shame after all that happened with this release that George didn't get the credit he deserved in the U.S.A.
