Chris Anderton Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Mossy, I`ve had experience of this myself recently.... I was always lead to believe that the originals were a definate blue colour and had a piano intro...they are certainly the ones i`ve been selling as originals over the last couple of years! The other pressing (I believe it to be legit) has no piano intro and it a greeny/ blue label. I have sold about 10 copies of this in the last year and i asked my source about the "green" one and he says the blue is the original. For the record there are no more copies...I have one more to list plus my own. The value according to Johns book is 100 and 30 respectively. Chris

Chris Right, so my copy, not having the piano intro is a green issue (even if it looks blue) ? Could you post the version with the piano intro for me and a scan of the label ? Demanding as always, but it would clear this question up for me ? Thanks big man!

If you put them side by side every little mark and the small print mistakes are Identical ! Anyone help further? Edited April 3, 2008 by mossy

Chris I'm sure we've had this discussion before on here, last year. As far as I know, the originals are sky blue with (strong) black type, not the "smudged/photocopied-looking" type as above, or green label. I say this because I bought a copy "blind" from Ady Pountain on his return from Detroit C.1982, long before it got widely popular. (I believe the record was bootlegged following spins at Thorne in the mid-90s, so the 'Voices from the Shadows' connection is probably correct) I notice however that Pat Brady currently has - what I took to be - a "re-issue" copy currently in auction @£100, and it is significantly different to my own copy which, as I say, has much cleaner/blacker lettering and with the blue label more even in colour and slightly darker (altogether sharper looking) (Will re-post scan of label design - when I can find the disc it's on!) Garethx Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 The scan above is definitely of the second issue. As Mel says, the crucial thing when buying an original of this (without hearing it) is the quality of the printing of the black type. On an original it should be strong with no fading as shown above. Steve G has an acetate of another mix entirely, which sounds very good when played out.

Steve Plumb Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Piano Intro, original That's the baby! More of a sky blue with clear black type. 2nd issue is 'greeny blue' with smudgier black type! Easy! Cheers Steve
