Ian Dewhirst Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) Not strictly S.S. stuff but nonetheless...... I'm sure many Soul Source readers will be sad at the news that the legendary Sound System and DJ pioneer Froggy passed away last night from a brain haemmorhage. For those of you who may not be aware of the influence that Froggy had upon both Soul Music, Live Events and eventually the Mixing scene in the UK, then please check the following link for some history on this influential guy. https://www.soulpranos.co.uk/djfroggy.html Froggy's Sound System was THE No.1 Sound System in the UK as many on here will probably know from Froggy's set-ups @ the Caister Soul Weekenders and various other events. At one point Froggy's system was used on the Radio One Roadshows and the term 'Froggy's System' would regularly be cited on national radio and thus into our conciousness. Froggy's Sound System eventually became synonymous with the best events and the crispest sound in the UK. His contribution to the evolution of the sound system in the UK cannot be under-estimated. Once Froggy arrived, everyone else had to up their game! Our thoughts are with Froggy's family, friends and colleagues. R.I.P. Froggy. Edited March 28, 2008 by Ian Dewhirst

I still have a copy of the excellent 12" remix Froggy did of " Love Town " by Booker Newberry III ........ He was one of the first DJs to mix dance / disco orientated records here in the UK , paving / showing the way for many others ........ Rip Froggy . Malc Burton
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) Sorry to hear this..... Me too. Froggy's sets were always a highlight of the "Shaving Foam And Lager"-era Caister and, of course, he always knew what it took to make a record sound great on a big system... ...another trailblazer gone. What a pity. Edited March 29, 2008 by TONY ROUNCE
Makemvinyl Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Froggy went on to become the first jock in the country to take two sets of Technics 1200 decks on the road, using a mixer he had designed himself with a UK-based company called Matamp Super Nova. At that stage he had already toured the country with Dave Lee Travis, DJ-ing at his Radio One Roadshows and had gone on to present a regular 25 minute soul/disco session on the DLT show. Meeting New York innovators like Larry Levan took Froggy to a new level. Indeed it was the sound systems at Studio 54 and Paradise Garage, Larry was resident at both, that would prove the forerunner for the now legendary Froggy Sound System. Once the Frogg had experienced a sound so crisp, yet so powerful, he was determined to try and recreate that king of production in the UK. see other thread in Freebasing started by Gavin Page or please join both together one of us gone and will be missed,
