Satiron is a boot, so to speak - there was never an official 60's release, this was a 70's press by Soul Bowl given to dj's

I asked John Anderson (Soul Bowl) about this some time ago and he said only 250 were pressed, i had 2 now i have 1 sold 1 last year £100.

I've only ever had 2 copies to be honest...I never even saw one til the late 80's

I have only ever had the one chance to buy & that was from the Soul Bowl list.

Certainly elusive nowadays, never seen many, if any for sale since.

Probably still sitting in collections like many titles do.

250 I didn't know how many, but wasn't it released shortly before the Grapevine release.

both Soul Bowl conections, and surely they must have had the rights to the record anyway.

That being the case, I reckon 250 would be a sensible amount, being previously unreleased,

enough to gain interest for the later Grapevine copy without affecting sales.

as far as i know the flip ......vocal version of "like a rolling stone" has never been released anywhere else .before or since.....real nice it is too......

I picked one up in Oxfam, Marylebone High Street, London, last year. Mind you, being Marylebone HIgh St. it was expensive for a charity shop single at £5. The Rolling Stone side sounds very good indeed now.

sold mine for £30 a few years ago. i wish i hadent now. not very often i regret selling

stuff. but theres about a dozen titles i let go . not the money either its finding the buggers

"I Belong To You" sounded wonderful in Wigan Casino, when it was a monster, before the Grapevine release!

You've sort of answered a question I was gonna post.

The other side "Like a rolling stone" is pretty damn fine and wondered whether this is it's only format. From Platters post it seems that there is an instrumental release. Can anyone clarify.

I did hear Soul Sam play "Like a rolling stone" at a Ritz warm up many years ago. Not heard it since. Alex Denham from Sheffield turned me onto it back in the 80s and fortunately I already had a copy since being a yoof. Did'nt realise there were so few pressed.

A great side with potential. The "Gallop/I belong to you" always reminds me of the theme from Black Beauty and that's not a blaxploitation film it's the one about the horse.

Yes "The Gallop" was a Carla release with "Like A Rolling Stone" on the flip side.

A couple of label Variations for this one.

Assuming they had the rights, does this make it a bootleg or a first legit issue (technically speaking)?

250 copies ain't much so technically speaking (again) it's quite rare (is it not?).

does anyone know why Carla released two instrumental backing tracks originally .....when there were two vocal versions recorded?......always baffled me......

PERSONALLY THINK THAT THE VOCALS WERE ADDED LATER, JUST FOR THE OCCASION .

I have always assumed that they had the rights, so for me it's a first legit issue.

For the reasons I gave (Later Grapevine Release) I believe that it is rare.

It is one of those records with an enigmatic history.

Reading Pete's brilliant discography of the Grapevine Label apparently it was Intended for release on Carla,

shelved at the last minute. Voc/Inst back to back with "The Gallop".

Expensive ? Try going into any of the Oxfam shops in Edinburgh ........

I bought a few things , the cheapest being £6 , but the dearest one I bought was a copy of The Thrills " Underneath My Makeup " ( Capitol Demo ) - £10 ........

I don`t think this is a Boot so to speak,i thought it was a joint venture between J Anderson and the "Carla" label owner

Ollie McLaughlinin the mid to late 70s,so i think it was legal although done especialy for the UK Northern scene.
