BLANKS ARE THE FIRST PRESS OF THE RECORD TO TEST THE MARKET IF THEY WERE GOING TO SELL IT COULD BE AGES TIL THEY PRESSED UP A NORMAL COPY FOR PUBLIC SALE THEY WERE OFTEN SENT TO SOUND MEN TO PLAY OUT AND IM LED TO BELIVE THEY WERE MORE EXPENSIVE TO BUY.

SOME ARE DEFINATLY UNRELEASED THERES A FEW THAT COME TO MIND ON UK LABELS

all of the blanks that ive aquired over the past weeks are Jamaican. all but one has a record store stamp. ive found most of the A-sides on various comps or just songs that i have heard somewhere before, but not all of the B-sides. im finding that UK releases seem to be a lot more expensive than JA ones. Im guessing that a lot of JA releases never really went out of print? such a different world than soul records.

just think of them like the 'white labels' in dance music. many house/jungle/whatever tracks never made it past white label - pressed up as promos, no royalties etc (not that Jamaican stuff had percentage contracts), but sold via shops. loads of big hits also seem to almost always be on blank - 'Carry Go Bring Come' for example, which sold thousands and thousands - presume that they didn't bother with a label for quick sellers

and not to be confused with stuff that's had the label scrubbed off to hide the title and artist
