Guest Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Hi all, I've been trying to find any republished CDs of Larry Saunders Albums, does anyone know of any or should I be looking for the vinyl? Also, I love the New Sounds version of "Don't take your love away" the guys got a great soul voice!! But I can't find out a single thing about the band and if they've released any albums on vinyl or CD. Any help/links would be much appreciated. Cheers Jay

Cheers Jay You need Larry Saunders "Stranger" album on Soul International. I don't know if this has been re-released on CD, but other August Moons/Mr.Wiggles productions have - check CDBaby.com New Sounds line up Gerorge Melvin, Ronnie Hall, Jack Lewis, Larry Brown, Melvin Lewis, Jimmy Brown, Robert Tanner, Dawson Smith, & Albert Mallet. Only know of one album, originally released on Turbo, and later ree-released on Japanese P-Vine. A great album which includes the brilliant "Sweet Memories" , which was also released by Robert Tanner on 45.

Any idea on the album name for the New Sounds and also who was the lead singer? Many thanks again J
Wrongcrowd Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 (edited) Sorry, one last question. Any idea on the album name for the New Sounds and also who was the lead singer? Many thanks again J It's self titled "The New Sounds" , and the lead switched between Larry Brown, Jack Lewis, Melvin Lewis and Robert Tanner. Edited March 13, 2008 by Wrongcrowd
Sebastian Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Any idea on the album name for the New Sounds It's just called "New Sounds" if I remember correctly. VERY hard to find on a Turbo original and will probably cost you £350-£500. Have only ever seen copies without sleeves. Sadly the entire LP suffers from poor sound quality / mastering.

Barry Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I don't know if this is relevant to your initial Q but it is definatley info on LH. I went watching Slave at the Zanzibar Club (Glasgow) in about '83 and Larry was helping the outfit out on bass, I nearly fell over.
Soul Shrews Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) Pretty sure Larrys "Prophet Of Soul" LP has been issued on CD in the States Try www.dustygroove.com Cheers Paul Edited March 24, 2008 by soul shrews
