Joto Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 As the promoters out there know, some difficult questions can be asked of you One of the requests, is for discounts from people not staying all night, or all weekend, so ive come up with an idea so we can accomodate these people PAY AS U USE £1 an hour thurs fri and sun £2 an hour saturday each person given a wrist band with a number, then when your number is called your time is up !! Top ups available at the pay desk Or maybe they could go further and charge for the records you dance to, kinda PAY AS U DANCE Which records would you pay to dance to ?? Just an idea

Tomangoes Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Although it may sound a crazy idea, in contrast to the USA soul weeks that only allowed Brits to go for the whole event, it sounds OK. Pleasing all the people, all the time. Thats the challenge. Ed

Just an idea if your only paying for records you dance too that means the Chin Strokers would have a free night I reckon that you should ban all people that dont dance to at least 10 records in any given night unless they have a real genuine reason not too of course, reason being i very rarely ever hear dancers moaning about nights or weekenders just them bloody Simon M is a fine example moan moan moan and the only time i see him on the dance floor he had a beer in his hand shocking behaviour and the likes of him should be banished to a broom cupboard on their own with an ipod so they can hear whatever they want and leave all the happy go lucky people out to have a good time and dance to do just that

Guest rachel Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 There is/ was a nighter that had a 'soul night' discount, i.e. you got so much of the entrance fee back if you left before a certain time (2am-ish I think), can't remember where though

Steve G Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Pay as you dance is a bit daft - especially if some of those has been 70s Djs are on the bill But greater flexibility over wekender charges sounds sensible, i.e - all weekend with accomodation - fri night no accom - sat night no accom ...might help with the numbers as not evryone can do the whole weekend, 24 times a year!

Yes steve i agree with you, that sounds fair as alot of people have family & work commitments that you cant do anything about so that sounds good

I shall be there from early doors, and probably still hanging around in the car-park saying goodbye long after its closed.

Dunno whether it had the effect Bearsy described as I haven't been wherever it was when they were doing it!
sister dawn Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 lets hope then not many paid for this... it was posted yesterday 13/03/08 Pontins future unsure amid takeover talks Mar 13 2008 by Kelly Fenna, Daily Post THE future of a North Wales holiday camp was uncertain last night amidst talks of a takeover. Pontins in Prestatyn Sands has this week temporarily closed its doors while talks about a national take-over bid take place. Call centre staff said the closure at Prestatyn was due to an overload of events, but gave assurances the camp will re-open in time for Easter. Last night it emerged the holiday chain is in negotiations with a "potential business purchaser" to sell it off as a going concern. Bosses say business will continue as normal and the move will not affect staff or customers. Set up by Sir Fred Pontin in 1946, the chain, with seven camps across the UK, has already passed through many hands. "Prestatyn Sands is one of our more popular holiday camps," a spokesman said. "If Pontins is sold, there will be no impact on staff or events." Pontins would not reveal the name of the buyer interested in the firm but said sites will continue as normal. A question mark still hangs over the deal and some customers said they have lost their confidence after another resort disappeared off the company website and brochure. One couple, who have events booked at Prestatyn up to March 2009, said: "We have lost our faith in Pontins. "Over the years we have seen customers being messed around - one event was moved from Brean to Southport and nobody was even notified. "The way that the Devon camp just disappeared off the map makes me wonder if the same will happen to Prestatyn. I worry that those who have made bookings will be the ones who lose out." Prestatyn councillor Michael German said: "Pontins in Prestatyn has been part of the area for decades - any plans to close it or change its use will be rigorously opposed. "We cannot afford to lose any more tourist attractions in North Wales, I hope the takeover is not a get-rich scheme." A Pontins spokesman said: "Pontins has been approached by a potential business purchaser and negotiations are taking place to sell the company as an ongoing concern. "This will not affect current staffing or events." kelly.fenna https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wale...55578-20614732/ So doors are closed now by the looks of things. So I wonder if Southport is the next move for the weekender then???
Guest Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Probably best to take out Pontins Insurance Cover for the weekender, more money but at least your safe
