George G Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I believe this record is a scam. Compare the picture to the one in the closed auction, and consider the seller has 0 feedback and just registered https://cgi.ebay.com/Four-Tracks-Like-My-Lo...1QQcmdZViewItem Closed auction https://cgi.ebay.com/FOUR-TRACKS-Mega-Rare-...1QQcmdZViewItem I know I'm not very active here so my word could be suspect as well. I have no personal interest in this. I am pretty sure the same seller (under a different name) tried (and failed) to scam me about 3 months ago. Just review the evidence and decide for yourself.
Cunnie Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Read the thread on the link George & it might throw some light on the topic. https://www.soul-source.co.uk/Tracks-Mandingo-t67637.html
Hammie Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Why not get the scammer, oops I mean 'seller' to divulge the credits to Voodoo Woman on other side as a check and see what happens If he dont reply then say goodbye.... If he really has got a copy and expects big bucks surely he wont mind co-operating with a prospective bidders questions will he ?
Alamo Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I believe this record is a scam. Hi, Thats wierd, one of these sold on Ebay only last week in the UK. Originally started off at a price of £875 Buy It Now and the description said that this was the last chance to buy this record at this price & it would not drop any further in price! As the days went by, the Buy It Now Price kept reducing by £25 at a time until it eventually sold for £700! At the time I thought that was a bit strange but it could be totally coincidental & genuine so apologies if it is!? Anyone else see it? Al
Guest Arcticsoulboy Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Well, if I was to buy a record for $1000+ I wouldn´t turn to a guy with a eBay user name implying it´s a greek mobster selling it. Even the mafia would understand that you need at least a few positive feedbacks when you sell big money items. Looks well dodgy in my opinion...
Mark Bicknell Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I'm glad I got mine back in 1990/91 for £70.00 lol and I've kept it all this time, minefield now it seems this record collecting lark, just be careful everyone on this one. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

Regards - Mark Bicknell. Jesus Christ !!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're firing-off all over the place now ..... There hasn't been a box full found... More like a container load. Click on the link above for the sold item .... In the but similar items box, there's another one for sale with six days left ... A seller in Michigan again, this time with BIG feedback ... (Think he's sold them before). He's got feedback from a different Mandingo issue.
Gasher Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 what link above? helps if you put it in haha gasher

Regards - Mark Bicknell. Got mine cheap back in the day too - 40 quid, reduced from 50 because it had the cover up tape around the run out . I wouldn't mind getting hold a brand spanking new one though, $600 max, now it's finally turned up.
Dave Pinch Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 revilot1957 m spivens is the guy in detroit who has found some copies. its the third one he`s put on ebay although some guys have had second chance offers. the mafia guy is a one off up to now. lets not bandy the words "container load" about just yet. could be harmful to what is still a great record. lets see what happens eh remember a few dealers were selling the clara hardy 45 dave
Marc Forrest Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Wonder what the one JM has will end at..already at 2500 USD
Dave Pinch Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 and the one m spivens has up is already over 700usd with still 6 days to go dave

I see him as no better than the bootleggers although I understand why - MONEY!
Guest mark shepherd Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Q1 - is the general consensus,m spivens has turned up a box of 100, they are original, but are now worth less than half what people have paid recently ie. £500 or less now Q2 - how long does it take for 100 once rare recrods to disapear into collections and the price to soar once again Q3 - how often, after a box has turned up, does another box turn up as you can probably tell i too have been offered 1 shep
Dave Pinch Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 what im saying is that 1 hes been very cagey and 2 no one knows the facts except mr spivens him or herself. time will tell. yes i do have a vested interest in the 45 and dont want to lose money cos im a pauper dave
Harry Crosby Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Different record this one but E J CHANDLER springs to mind remember that one?

bri pinch Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 How many times did this happen early 80's with so called rare modern tunes..... REMEMBER THIS HAPPENING TO BETTY LLOYD ABOUT 15 YEARS OR SO AGO. THINK IT WAS A £300+ 45. COPIES WERE FOUND DONT REMEMBER HOW MANY BUT THEY WWERE EV'RYWHERE FOR A WHILE BOTTOMED OUT AT £50 QUID, THEN THEY ALL DISAPPEARED. NOW IT,S BACK UP AT £300+. THINK THE FOUR TRACKS MAY BOTTOM OUT AT £300 BUT SURE TO RISE AGAIN AND WHO KNOWS WHAT NEXT WILL TURN UP MAYBE THE TOMANGOES COS ALL THATS EVER TURNED UP OF THAT ITEM IS USED COPIES, THE OLD STORE STOCK MUST BE OUT THERE ...SURELY. . BRI PINCH.
Marc Forrest Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Interesting to see that one of the bidders on the currenty ebay offering has bid 59 times (!) inbetween what is roughly half an hour, each time adding about 0.20 cents...
