Cheapsiderecords Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Just picked this up for a buck at the local Record Show, any real value? Played it and it sounded pretty discoey? John Manship has it in his last book for a tenner?
Harry Crosby Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Did this not come out on two labels? was it LINDEE & GAMMA? think one of them is canadian can`t remember wich one though
Cheapsiderecords Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 As I am in Canada I am going to assume Gamma is the Canadian one although nothing on the label.
Stevie Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Did this not come out on two labels? was it LINDEE & GAMMA? think one of them is canadian can`t remember wich one though LINDEE was the canadian one - Massive record in its day
Ernie Andrews Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Just picked this up for a buck at the local Record Show, any real value? Played it and it sounded pretty discoey? John Manship has it in his last book for a tenner? How could you call this discoey Kev? Was a monster in its day - Classsic Record for the northern scene because of the clap after the guitar in the same way as bernie williams.
Alan Pollard Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Just picked this up for a buck at the local Record Show, any real value? Played it and it sounded pretty discoey? John Manship has it in his last book for a tenner? Mecca monster, top quality tune not a sign of disco. Regards Alan

Sjclement Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Just picked this up for a buck at the local Record Show, any real value? Played it and it sounded pretty discoey? John Manship has it in his last book for a tenner? Very popular record in its day '75? played at Mecca and Wigan, But we all thought it could have been an Abba cover up
Cheapsiderecords Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 All I meant was when I played it yesterday I just thought it sounded a bit more discoey than when I remembered it from years ago, when it was, as you all say, a monster.
Soul Shrews Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Heres the Italian LP longer version than the 45, don't know if it got a 45 release in Italy Cheers Paul

Regards Alan Absolutely brilliant record takes me back to the St Ives All nighters when this was as big as you could get , and you're right Alan, no sign of disco in there By the way, both Gamma and Lindee are Canadian issues - no US release as far as I know Edited March 10, 2008 by Wrongcrowd
Pete S Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 First played early 76 - actually bought this on my first ever visit to the Casino - dropped like a stone almost immediately. LinDee copies came after Gamma
Cheapsiderecords Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 In the same handful of 45's was The Mighty Clouds Of Joy - Time - ABC Dunhill, is this known or played? It bloody should be - what a belting 70's dancer.

Pete S Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 So you were buying modern soul back in the day then Pete Never thought of it back then mate, this was a driving uptempo dancer, I bought loads of records of that ilk back then - creative source, johnny williams, east coast connection etc. Love 'em.
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 In the same handful of 45's was The Mighty Clouds Of Joy - Time - ABC Dunhill, is this known or played? It bloody should be - what a belting 70's dancer. Brilliant record, but I've seen it empty a full floor on more than one occasion over a 30 year period (and not just when I've played it, either). It might just be one of those records that will never have its 'time'....
