Hello Everyone,

I've been digging through some 45s this morning and came across one I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on. It's Maxine Sellers on Challenge Records, and it's a promo copy white label 45. The a-side is Some Kind of Fever (Pray For Rain) w/Women Enough.

This one's a toughie for me. It's so close to Northern Soul for me. It's got great vocals and horns on both sides.

Any idea if this is some undiscovered Northern Soul gem? It looks EX- and plays EX-/VG++. Value?

Love to hear everyone's thoughts on this one.

my copy was from a pound box, don't think it's worth much (20 quid?). wouldn't consider it Northern Soul. see it's been comped on 45 Kings vol 3, along with Gary Atkinson 'Wanderin' Soul', Nino Ferrer, etc. there's a fair bit of this 'folk funk' soul/blues influenced stuff about, wouldn't categorise it as soul itself though.

a few others off the top of my head:

Christine Perfect - And That's Saying a Lot

Carmen Cole - I Just Don't Understand

Lyn Christopher - Take Me With You

Barbara and Ernie - Play With Fire

Nancy Priddy

Bonnie Dobson

Dion 'Daddy Rollin'

late period Bobby Darin

Ellen McIlwaine
