Hakenig Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 $200 for an 80s bootleg repress - you sure fella? I thought this was a reasonable price considering what it's sold for in the past.
Mark B Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I thought this was a reasonable price considering what it's sold for in the past. was discussed a while back it is a re-issue think one of the carolina ones, think it went high because not many people were sure of it. mark
Steve G Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I thought this was a reasonable price considering what it's sold for in the past. Think some people may have bought it thinking it was an original, which of course it isn't. It's a bit like boots of John & Weirdest, I am sure I read some of them have sold for lots.

It's a bit like boots of John & Weirdest, I am sure I read some of them have sold for lots. Think a few major record sellers have all had this listed high so can see where Haim is coming from! Deffo a re-issue from carolina beach shag scene Think people were buying it for the Robert Winter side but interestingly the "heaven in afternoon" version is different to the regular one. I once bought it for $9.99 off ebay ,played it at Joes Bar in Darlington and was approached by someone who said "this is a different take without the horns etc ". Sold it on ebay for £10 a month later, only to find out "mugs" were paying silly money for it Do i sound disgruntled ???win some you lose some eh Suppose if its the only way to get it, maybe it is a rarity anyone else???

Think Sam paid a bit for this about 12 - 18 months ago and was giving it a bit of stick here and there. Haven't heard it from him lately. There again he doesn't play much for too long . Brian

Brian Yes he did buy it and I think he got it from a reputable dealer too.....anyway he's not on here to answer so let's not get into a discussion about it. I thought it was the 12 mix Steve Edited March 7, 2008 by Steve G
Hakenig Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 I didn't realize this would generate such a discussion! I've reduced a couple of the 45s a bit. Anyone who's dealt with me knows I'm an honest guy. I do not want to misrepresent anything I sell, ever. I never really offer stuff like this, but am trying to sell these on behalf of a friend. So it seems like the Curtan 45 is an out-and-and boot (albeit one which has some demand, apparently). Thanks.

Modernsoulsucks Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I reckon Sam should stick to disreputable dealers from now on. $150 for a boot is a hell of a lot of money!! Im pretty sure I mentioned the provenance of this 45 on an earlier thread. The Pad in Myrtle Beach is the equivalent of Wigan Casino for Beach Scene. Although we've jumped on this seller elsewhere there is a Beach boot of "Pour your little heart out" for £60 I think. Is it buyer beware or shouldn't the moderators be stepping in to ask that they be listed as boots so no potential buyers are misled. ROD

Hakenig Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 the Curtan 45 has been removed, other two still available.

ROD Haim is deffo a honest bloke ,ive been buying things from him for a few yrs now and would categorically say ,he's as honest as they come! I have bought some decent stuff off him for very good prices ,his grading is very very conservative and he always supplies as much info as he possibly can. He is, imho one of the good guys who like a lot of USA sellers , isnt always privvie to the dark side of "boot " records. Most early copies of this record were readily available on ebay for $9.99 and sold without any mis-guidance for same price. Seems imo the uk sellers ,re-selling this are the ones at fault and people like Haim ,maybe have noticed it on lists and followed suit,WITHOUT KNOWING IT'S A RE-ISSUE Out of interest ,just how many big name uk sellers, who watch this site and are also members, have sold or are selling it for big money, knowing full well its authenticity It was the topic of a few posts on here so deffo no excuses from any members! Steve G Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 the Curtan 45 has been removed, other two still available. You are a gentleman and a scholar Sir
NEV Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 You are a gentleman and a scholar Sir I GUESS THAT CONFIRMS IT! GOOD GUY INDEED
Hakenig Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 Hey guys, thanks a lot for the good words and for your confidence - Nev especially that was very cool of you, it's much appreciated. I consider myself a straight-up guy and this was a very unusual instance (the first time actually) where this sort of thing happened. Thanks again
