Guest maria Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 People are having fun with this and I don't want put a damper on the thread but....... 4 plus years ago I was sitting at the computer typing out a list called 'Songs for my Funeral' a serious list of songs that I did want played in the event of my demise. My son Jamie, 18 at the time, saw the list and ask what it was. I told him that should I go that he should make sure to cut a CD with all the tunes. Unbeknownst to me, he created his own list of his songs. He tragically passed away Christmas 2003 and we found his list and indeed had his songs at his memorial service. I can't tell you how much that CD still means to us. So, while it might seem morbid, putting together a list really is a good idea. Sorry to hear about your son, and it is a good idea. My two songs are Jerusalem and a beautiful record by Luther Vandross - The Impossible Deam. What about a poems? Mine would be:- DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain When you awaken in the morning hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die.
Northern Soul Uk Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 That's beautiful. I think mine would have to be 'Time will pass you by' The lyrics are amazing and warn you that life is too short, so 'do what you gotta do' (Four tops), 'Before it's too late' (Jackie Day).
