Guest Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 The second most important venue thread has got me thinking. Has anyone ever tried to put together a list of all the nighters there have been over the years ( not including weekenders ), to see how many came and went or are still around. I've listed the one's I have attended ( that I can remember) at some point or other to start Wigan Casino Maxim's (wigan ) Cricketers ( wigan ) the old cinema - name escapes me ( wigan ) Clifton Hall Cleethorpes Pier & Winter Gardens Bradford Queens Hall Tony's Empress Ballroom - Blackburn Morecambe Pier & Carlton Club Samanthas Take Two Coconut / Pineapple Grove - preston ( I know it was something tropical to do with fruit ) Twisted Wheel ( 80's) Rotters Manchester Hyde Parr Hall Stafford Windsford Notts Odd Fellows - Leicester Hinckley Sports Center & Town Hall ? ( it's where I met the wife I should really remember !! ) Newcastle Upon Tyne - Tiffs ( Mr M's sign over the door I remember ) Dolphin Centre - Darlington Kirkcaldy Dundee - was it called Clouds? Boston - Elizabethan Suite Peterborough - Wirrana & Fleet Notts Palais Derby Assembly rooms St Ives 100 Club Leighton Buzzard Six Hills - Leicester Barnsley Middleton Bidds Sheridans Stoke Kings Hall & Queens Hall Trentham Gardens Lifeline - Retford Keele These are the one's I can remember off the top off my head but sure i've missed places where I was taken without realising it, no wonder my head's muddled these days Not bad for a guy in his late twentys Lets see how many I didnt go to

We are moving as of April to Brookfields Club (The Stables) @ Shareshill, Wolverhampton. It's the home of New Century Soul Club too if it hasn't been mentioned already.

Chalky Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Another from 80's, Paddocks Club in London, opposite or at side of Daily Mirror (I think) buliding.
Dave Thorley Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 (edited) I've often thought the Winding Wheel would be a cracking venue, never knew it had been, when was that Chalky? I ran it for a year after Stafford closed. DJ's included Butch, Ian Clarke, Guy, Keb, Ady Pountain, Jonathon, Adam, Robin over two rooms, one modern the other northern. From the day we started to the day it closed we were harrassed by the police and thats why it's a hard venue to use. Asked not long ago and the police in the town are just anti allniters. Shame Edited March 2, 2008 by Dave Thorley

The one in Golborne was run by Dean. Not sure if it's the Miners Welfare Club or summert like that.
Chalky Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I've often thought the Winding Wheel would be a cracking venue, never knew it had been, when was that Chalky? It was 1987 for I think 6 nighters. First one upstairs was northern and downstairs modern etc. Northern went downstairs and the upstairs became oldies room, Steve Smith in charge of that one I think??? The December one was Kebs last nighter outside London before going into retirement, got a rousing ovation that went on for ages and Guy was stood there tapping his feet waiting to start his set 1
Guest Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 (edited) was,nt there one in wakefield called ..... rachealls No , that was Raquel's - but it was not an all - nighter ........ Wakefield has had two notable all - nighters : The Metro , and the Wakefield Unity Hall , which I was the promoter of 1976 - 1977 ........ I also ran , with Bill Payne , all - nighters at Stoke Tiffany's ........ Malc Burton Edited March 2, 2008 by Malc Burton

Shame Yeah they were a complete set of b*stards!! Stopping the coaches and searching all who entered the car park in town centre!! They caught one person with a bit of gear from the six all-nighters. Think in the end the venue had to concede to the police as they were refused an extension for one of Colliery Brass Bands I think the stance of the police may have softened a bit now Dave, other all-nighters from other types of music have been held in the area and other clubs have been open all night. Might be worth a try again

It was sort of the end of the Stafford era, everyone went off to do other things after that. But even with the police hassel, they were good fun.

But even with the police hassel, they were good fun. When I said Steve in charge I meant you gave him responsibility for that room, sure thats what he mentioned in conversation about the venue once. Rob Marriott charging the squad to get in, "don't give a f*ck who you are, tenner (or what ever the entrance fee was back then)" Edited March 2, 2008 by chalky
