Guest Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Come Closer - Female version Anyone know this version? Is it a known 45 ? Price ? All the usual questions! Cheers M
Guest Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Got a female version of "Come Closer" by Jackie Hill on Mar-Brit, and this is the same backing but the vocal is different, I have heard this version before, think it was listed as "Jessica James and The Outlaws" but don't know if that's the real name! steve Any chance of hearing your version?
Ficklefingers Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 (edited) Well, it obviously isn't the Jackie Hills version on Mar-Brit then (above posting eliminates that), BUT... could it, possibly, be Jackie Hill - on Marbit ?? The titles of the A & B sides on both the Mar-Brit & Marbit releases are exactly the same... but wondered if perhaps the Marbit 45 is a different cut !??! So.... what we need to either confirm or eliminate this avenue is a soundfile for the Marbit release - anyone ? If it isn't that - well... LP track? an Acetate? Karaoke ?? Seriously, though, seems that the Jessica James release on Dynovoice is the firm favourite (I just like to make more work for myself by going down the 'obscure' route first ) - so what we really need is a soundfile for that!! Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I am pretty sure that it'll be Tiffany Michel on MGM but I'll have to dig very deep to find the 45 to confirm. That's the same song as Jessica James/Dee Clark in any event...

Here's a nice pic of it for you... ...still prefer Dee Clark's myself, though....

shute Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Had both versions of this, Jackie Hill, nice soulfull sound, but for me its always gotta be Dee Clark, if memory servce me correctly DC version was originaly covered up as Timi Yuro cant remember who played it originaly though.
boba Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I have the Tiffany Michel and the Dee Clark demo copy, but did not know about this Jackie Hill one and to my ear the best of the three versions by far thanks for sharing. Steve J I think the jackie hill is the original version but I'm not sure. Either way, it's the cheapest / easiest to get, as unplayed stock was floating around (at least it used to be) for $10 or less.
Guest Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 you're right Bob Jackie hill - 1963 Dee Clark - 1964 Tiffany Michel -1966
