Guest Jimmy Scriv Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Being an old man I'm lucky to have visited most of the main venues obviously for me Blackpool Mecca was my favourite but if given a chance to travel in a time machine a night at The Torch would be my choice IMO The Torch had the best atmosphere bar none.

Blackpool Mecca was my first of the major venues and was my favourite and choice although the atmosphere at Wigan was awesome. Although I did not make the Wheel or Torch, thankfully local DJ's like Fred Benson and Rick Scott kept me up to date with the sounds at time.I only made Stafford once and that was back in 1974. One thing that has surprised me is that so far there has been no mention of the Cleethorpes Pier which owing to attendances resulted in two all-nighters half a mile apart on the same night when Blackpool and Wigan were in their prime. When you talk about important venues, Cleethorpes played a very major role in both having its own idenity musically and for spreading the faith as they say to the eastern side of the UK.
