Guest lotusland Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 we found 10 or so of the 45s 2 years ago in Mobile, all sold at $400 a pop. never found the 12, never even seen a scan of one.

Sebastian Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Superb boogie flipside on the King Tutt as well which never seems to get a mention.
Simon T Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Same here Steve. Now if it had been a King Tutt 12" i'd be doing handstands. Arthur Fenn told me he had a 12" of this, at the last ever Winter Gardens last Feb, he said he'd let it go for £1000
Guest Matt Male Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 wonder what this will go for ? Finally went for $610. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=004 Considered going in at $400, but then thought is it really worth buying these big money oldies these days? Think of all the nice cheapies $610 could buy.

Ian Seaman Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Dave Raistrick had a few of these 12",s, he couldn't shift them, i played one and it sounded crap disco, not a patch on the 7"
Sebastian Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 i played one and it sounded crap disco, not a patch on the 7" It's the exact same recording. The 12" has just got a longer instrumental break towards the end.
Kevinkent Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Dave Raistrick had a few of these 12",s, he couldn't shift them, i played one and it sounded crap disco, not a patch on the 7" The 7" must be better as it's crap disco that don't go on for so long. Did someone say this was a NORTHERN anthem? -Kev
Guest Glynn Jones Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) A mate did a copy of a CD for me, a couple of years ago. I think that was the 12" mix. Will see if I can find it BTW it was called The Soul Of Disco. Nah! Can't find it. Edited March 1, 2008 by Glynn Jones
Guest Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 When this was getting plays in the early 80's (Cliffton Hall etc) there was plenty of copies about and they were cheap. Another one the Soul Bowl had in quantity. It certainly was not a rare record then, its amazing to see the price its going for now!
Koolkat Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Not my bag man! This is exactly the type of tune that pushed the scene into disarray circa 74/75/76. Its a good job we are all different!
Sebastian Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) Just came to think about this... Whilst driving from Malmoe to Gothenburg the other weekend for Soulastatic's 10th anniversary, we at one point had the 12" version of "You Got Me Hung Up" blasting from the car stereo. And all of a sudden that long instrumental break started to sound like Kraftwerk. Edited March 3, 2008 by Sebastian
Wrongcrowd Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 The 7" must be better as it's crap disco that don't go on for so long. Did someone say this was a NORTHERN anthem? -Kev ...same old, same old.... Big tune whilst you were taking your "rest"
Guest mel brat Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Wonder who's gonna be the 1st to lower the tone by saying 12" is better than 7" 12" is better than 7"....... sometimes!
