Produced some top tunes down the years, reponsible for Nicky Thomas's, Dennis Brown's and Althea & Donna's massive UK hits (LOVE OF THE COMMON PEOPLE, MONEY IN MY POCKET and UPTOWN TOP RANKING respectively), took things to another level with Errol T (also passed away a couple of years back) as the Mighty Two and responsible for producing Culture's landmark TWO SEVENS CLASH album (whence punk band the Clash took their name).

Sad to note Gibbo's passing but, really, the credit for just about all of his best known 70s work should go to the late Errol T, a total genius of the soundboard whose mixing skills were what made the African Dub albums - and the sound of Gibbs' productions in general - so compelling.

BTW, Spacehopper, it was Joe Higgs who taught the Wailers, and who recorded "Change Of Plan. Joe Gibbs never had anything whatsoever to do with Studio 1 other than the fact that, like many producers, he used a lot of revivals of S1 riddims in the 70s and early 80s.
