It's not Bobby that sings 'lend a hand' it's the backing singers, but it's still in the song nonetheless.. Edited February 22, 2008 by Ian Sims

Soulsmith Posted February 22, 2008 Author Posted February 22, 2008 I don't think you are wrong, first words in the song "Lend a hand" ...... Personally I blame my mate Kyp from Nottingham. It was his idea to start this thread & he came up with the titles

Brenda Starr - " Satan Let Me Sleep Tonight " , she adds the words " Won't You " after " Satan" and before " Let Me Sleep Tonight " to the title ....... Malc Burton

Simsy Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Sadly an ever increasing number of Soulclub track will not play on my pc at work.. but did Fluffy Falana ever mention her 'little cottage' during the song?

Platters 81 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 dunno if it qualifys.....but Joe Simon........."When" on SS7...why was it called that?........
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Blimey that's a deep voiced woman Yes, Pete, but you know what some of those types who go in for a spot of 'cottaging' are like.... (...not from personal experience, obviously...)
Citizen P Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 "Girl Don't Make Me Wait" - Bunny Sigler You cannot be serious. Tony
SteveM Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 You cannot be serious. Tony Think he's right.
Citizen P Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Think he's right. Girl, don't make me wait too long, cos without you I can't go on, You are the one for me etc etc etc. Tony
Simsy Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Blimey that's a deep voiced woman Oh yeah that's right! 1000 pardons. Not overly familiar with that number due to initial hearings leading me to the conclusion that it was a little bit crap. Did try and listen to the clip beforehand on Soulclub, but strangely (at work at least) I get error messages on about half the tracks on there. Dunno if anyone else has this problem? Fluffy Falana. What kind of name is that for a geezer?
Epic Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) Girl, don't make me wait too long, cos without you I can't go on, You are the one for me etc etc etc. Tony Think you need to listen again!!!! The line is "Baby please don't make me wait too long" etc.etc. Just after the break he sings "Girl don't ...........don't make me wait" Edited February 22, 2008 by epic
Guest Matt Male Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Off the top of my head 'Lonely for you baby' - Sam Dees He never actually says 'lonely for you baby' in the song.
Pete S Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 "Girl Don't Make Me Wait" - Bunny Sigler He sings that line though...so girl don't, don't make me wait
Simsy Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 He sings that line though...so girl don't, don't make me wait Without wishing to sound confrontational, no he doesn't.
Epic Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) He sings that line though...so girl don't, don't make me wait Close........ but no cigar!!! See post #27 for further details. Edited February 22, 2008 by epic
Guest Matt Male Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Here's another 'Ton of Dynamite' not strictly an instrumental so it counts i reckon.
Guest Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Ben.E.King...........The Record! This is harder than you think guy`s!
Guest Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) Volcanos - Its against the RULES of Love Edwin Starr - Scotts on Swingers. Edited February 22, 2008 by Guest
pogo paul Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Here's another 'Ton of Dynamite' not strictly an instrumental so it counts i reckon. Googie Rene - Smokey joe's la la ,same thing i reckon, and any Ramsey Lewis.
Guest outonthefloor Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 ALL INSTRUMENTALS Well I thought it was funny.....
Guest Paul Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 THE HORSE I'm disappointed that there isn't a mention of a "horse" in that song. Yet on "Crazy Horses" by The Osmonds you actually get the word "horses" and lots of fake horse noises! Animal songs were quite popular when soul music was going through it's "animal phase". Jackie Lee had a song about a "duck", Major Lance sang about a "monkey", Rufus Thomas talked about a "dog" and someone mentioned an "alligator" which rhymed with "mashed potatoe" but I've no idea why. Maybe alligators eat mashed potatoes? Sorry for going a bit off-topic. Paul
Guest Glynn Jones Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) Volcanos - Its against the RULES of Love Edwin Starr - Scotts on Swingers. Soz, Steve. "I'm sending out an SOS, Scotts on Swingers, with all the best." G Bill Murphy - Work Song Edited February 22, 2008 by Glynn Jones
AlanB Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 The Friday teaser...... Northern soul tunes that don't contain the words from the title in the lyrics. I don't think "Catch that teardrop" is ever sung but it's a better title than "Don't let this teardrop hit the ground". Alan
Soulsmith Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 Anybody know if 'Of Hopes & Dreams & Cobblestones' is actually sung in the record?
