slimharpo Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Is It, Just assumed it would"t be that hard as its on Volt, there you go, Assume will make an ASS out of yoU and ME Maybe a wish rather then a want then It is hard although I have had a few copies over the years. Sold the last one a few years ago for £75. Look out for his other R&B Pork flavoured 45s Hog Killin' Time on King & The Grunt on Fortune (probably harder than The Hawg).
pow wow mik Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 more primate-r&b than pork-r&b, but his 'monkey tonight' on King is great too, mellower though.
Richard Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 (edited) Miff, it's title is actually The Hawg not The Hawk. Have heard it was reissued on Atlantic altough never seen any evidence to prove this. Slim Harpo, it was me that bought your copy of The Hawg after searching for it for years - must have been about 5 or so years ago - think you'd just posted it on ebay as a buy it now and I scooped it up within about 5 minutes of you posting it on there. Sold it on to Andy Powell a year or so ago - not sure if he sold it on or still has it. Fantastic record and very much regret selling it (must have been a moment of madness) Have also had in the past Prince Conley - I'm Going Home on Saterllite and Floyd Newman - Frog Stomp on Stax - along with The Hawg really really mad to get hold of Stax stuff. One of the other really really hard Stax things is The Cobras - Restless, only ever seen one copy for sale in serious searching for about 10 years and that was on here a couple of weeks ago (would have had it but have banned myself from buying for a while). Have got a nice M- demo copy of Hog Killin' Time for sale on King if anyone's interested Edited February 21, 2008 by richard

Have got a nice M- demo copy of Hog Killin' Time for sale on King if anyone's interested Hi Richard. You're right you should have kept it! I found that copy in Florida. I originally bought 3 copies when I heard it for the first time in '87 when I was looking through records in the basement of Martin Koppel's shop in Toronto. I also came across a copy of the Prince Conley which I also heard for the first time there. They were cheap then! Mossy & Pete Griffin got a copy each of the Hawg I think. Still got my copy of that and the Prince Conley. Unfortunately I sold my Bobby Valentin, RDM Band etc etc that I found there. Martin had records everywhere, up & down stairs in his shop, up & down stairs in his house inc his 'Collection' room and in his out of town warehouse which was handily placed near to a topless bar. Slim

Guest lluiiis Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Hard to say really Miff as it so rarely would come up for sale, I'd been looking for it religiously for 10 years before I got Slim's copy (no joking) Hi, well I was quite lucky I bought a M- copy for 32 pounds!!! took me 5 years since the first time I hear it. Good luck
