Leeds - Contacts, Record Shops And Clubs Please

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi,

I will be living and working in Leeds for about 4 months from yesterday. I don't know anybody here  so it would be great to come in contact with anybody involved in the local soul scene. It would also be appreciated to get any information regarding clubs and record shops that are worth checking out. I am mainly into crossover and modern soul but do appreciate funk and northern as well. biggrin.gif

Regards

Johan

Johan,

Our night in Thorne is pretty easy to get to via car or train from Leeds. Click on the link in my footer and see if you like the playlists on our website. Don't forget the Wilton is on 21st March (join the M62 at Yorkshire post and it's only a few junctions east)

I only work in the Leeds area (LS18), but these days am only in the office less than half the time.

Try Jumbo Records in the St John Centre ( near the Merrion Centre).

Sat hello to the owner Hunter Smith for me ( not seen him for many years).

Used to meet up with Simon Soussan and Tony Banks (RIP) there in the early 70s to buy/see/trade 45s. Happy days.

Julian
