paultp Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Just "won" this on eBay and the seller says it is the first issue before polydor - is that correct? Thanks Paul
boba Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Just "won" this on eBay and the seller says it is the first issue before polydor - is that correct? Thanks Paul I think that is correct.
paultp Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 I think that is correct. Thanks, just trying to work out which one to keep
sepia Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 i also hav this on wam, they did another great tune on wam MAKIN OF LOVE(harder to get). they were a canadian group,so wether it came out 1st on wam or polydor or uk bus stop @ same time?.all 3 labels play @ diff times. wam the longest, polydor(short version)shortest & bus stop in between.
soulfulmick Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I have all it on all three labels and I also think cos they are Canadian the Wam release is the first issue. Wam label looks better than Polydor but I couldn't decide which to keep so kept em all. Makin of love also on Wam choon
Guest Adam G Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I was told they had more than five releases on WAM I have TCATTCAD /He's a rebel on WAM 901 1975 theres also a pressing with the disco version on wam as well , it depends which pressing you have mine plays the same length as Polydor, bus stop issues Making of Love/To wake up each morning WAM 909 1976 We've gone to far/Love signs WAM 101 1977 "We've gone to far" is for me just as good a side as "There'll come a time". and "the Making of love" Adam
Guest D'Arcy Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 There was some discussion on this a few years ago on here. Can't remember the ins and outs, but Steve Plumb is your best point of contact as I seem to remember him explaining all. Cheers D'Arcy
Cheapsiderecords Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I think Steve's article was regarding Canadian only release but Basic, Black and Pearl did get a mention. I have a spare copy of There'll Come a Day if someone wants to PM me with an offer. Kevin
Marshman Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Just to add to the mix...issued on Canadian Bus stop as well. I used to have a copy but flogged it and kept the US polydor. No scan I'm afraid as I didn't have a scanner at the time.
Guest mel brat Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 (edited) I was told they had more than five releases on WAM I have TCATTCAD /He's a rebel on WAM 901 1975 theres also a pressing with the disco version on wam as well , it depends which pressing you have mine plays the same length as Polydor, bus stop issues Making of Love/To wake up each morning WAM 909 1976 We've gone to far/Love signs WAM 101 1977 "We've gone to far" is for me just as good a side as "There'll come a time". and "the Making of love" Adam I have "We've Gone Too Far"/cw "Love Signs" on WAM, but labelled as by Sharon Lee Williams..!?? I like both sides and have always regarded "We've Gone.." as having potential given the exposure. "Love Signs" is a very contemporary 1977 sound with a nice guitar break. (Think it was 30p from Keith Minshull of all people!) Similarly, I found "There'll Come A Time" (on Polydor) in a junk shop for 50p C.1976, but sold it cheap C.1989, before anyone really took an interest. I always liked it though. Anoraks Corner Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 More... I've had two different Polydor 7" demos of this...one was a mono/stereo release of the standard mix with one label being white and t'other side red; the other variant has the standard length one side and the extended 'disco' version on t'other (white labels both sides).
