Hi,

just got a few 45's in : -

3 off someones wants and some a few for myself.

Marv Johnson "Unbreakable love" U.A. issue.

Billy Tircuit "I confess" Bonatemp issue.

Jimmy Beaumont "Never say goodbye" May d.j.

The above are I suppose what you call 'Popcorn'? Some nice tunes, and I admit I had never heard of them before. Most important I get prices on these as I've guessed a price of 175 lb.

The 70's 45's listed below are for myself . . . perhaps P.S. could help with these as I understand he's a great 70's to Y2000 fan whistling.gif

Otis Leavill "Why why why" Dakar d.j.

The Millionaires "It ain't no achievement" Specialty

Merry Clayton "One more ride" Ode d.j.

The Main Ingredient "Looks like rain" R.C.A.

Martin

p.s. the Otis Leavill reminds me of a tune played in 1978!!! I just can't think what though.

Thanks Paul, Mill Evans is the one . . . played by either Ginger or John Vincent!

Having not heard the Mill Evans version for a few years, this sounds a little bit more apt for todays venues . . . probably! What was it covered as though??

As for The Main Ingredient, worth every penny a great sounding 45!!! thumbsup.gif

LEAVILL, OTIS DAKAR 617 DJ GLAD I MET YOU / WHY, WHY, WHY  £75 Shifty, £40 Joe Dunlop

Both those prices are over the top.

It should be £15-£25.

So that's agreed then, perhaps?? : -

Otis Leavill - Why, why, why. Dakar d.j. @ £15 - £17.50

The Main Ingredient - Looks like rain. RCA @ £10 - £25

That just leaves :-

Merry Clayton - One more ride. Ode d.j.

The Millionaires - It ain't no achievement. Specialty

& the three for a bloke I don't want to ask too much from!!

Marv Johnson - Unbreakable love. UA

Billy Tircuit - I confess. Bonatemp

Jimmy Beaumont - Never say goodbye. May d.j.

Perhaps another thread here?

Who and What defines the price/value of a 'northern soul' 45?

Is it:-

(a) What a dealer prices it at.

( cool.gif What it is advertised for.

© What you manage to get the record for, remembering that there is always

that element of bargaining.

(d) What you as a person judge it to be worth.

Another thing that has always got me!!! Who is usually the first person to put a price on a rare/unavailable/indemand 45? I suppose like most 45's (legit, not acetates) they are known to a few who own some of the more unheard/unplayed tunes - commonly known in the past as 'Tape swappers'. To them all 45's have a certain value from the inset, probably judged in their knowledge of simular tunes, be they 60's, 70's, 80's etc. and the availability to the set few who know of them prior to it, or them emerging from the speakers.

Once played at a major nighter or by a 'BIG' dj, who then adjusts the price, and they certainly do get adjusted . . . big time! e.g. Rhonda Davis £25 for quite a while then overnight to £150!! Once priced by ONE person somewhere in darkest U.K. at what rate of "£'s per hour" does this price travel and when does everyone agree this is the going rate for that tune?

It's a hard, hard life.

Martin

p.s. does the Otis Leavill track also sound just a little like Ray & Dave's 'Wrong, wrong, wrong' or am I wrong?:rolleyes::yes:

Apart from Andy & Steve  then that appears to be it - either not known or real rare! Can't be that rare, surely???
