Chris Anderton Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I have a copy of Gary haines on Sound "Keep on going/ I want to sing". The record has a Nashville mains stamp, is it a real copy? I seem to remember there being something odd about this pressing regarding authenticity? If it is a real one what the current going rate? TIA Chris.

And yep, if it's got that on it's definitely real. The boot is practically identical but doesn't have that stamp.

But some smart-Alec over the years has spent his spare time scratching them in..i've had a few with a "fake" Nashville Matrix but they are easy to detect as we all know what a real "Nashvile matrix" looks like.
Pete S Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 hi chris, the issue was booted with a scratched in nashville stamp. As I said above, counterfeit doesn't have the stamp, thanks for confirming this John. I have an original here with the stamp. The white demo is ultra rare, I've only had it once, in fact that was the only one I ever saw.
Chris Anderton Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 Cheers Guys, I`ve had this record kicking around the place for a couple of years and for some reason i always thought it to be a boot but looks like its a proper one.It has the Nashville matrix stamp and the ztsc number scratched in too... Thanks for the info... Chris

It's 100% genuine though.
Ted Massey Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Here you are pete you can see another one now

It's in the new book, out shortly (i Think). John

It now resides in my box thank you very much Pete I played it out recently and got more reaction from people coming up to see what it was then got up to dance , cracking sound, needs lots of plays imho. Ste Henderson Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Scans of the issue and also of the matrix its quite faint but its there Steve
Garethx Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Who played this first? I've always had a soft spot for it, hearing it first on one of the Grapevine lps. One of those records where the weedy white-sounding vocal fits in really well with the overall feel and probably serves the record better than more accepted styles of soul singing.
