jocko Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Michael Watford - Holdin on - East West 12" £15 Possibly the second greatest house record made, or at least the second most inspirational house record in my life, awesome brilliance, if you are daft enough to believe a house record can be brilliant. Proper Garage music (what happened to that term) can you tell I like it, and even better its on the UK label rather than the nasty US one that jumps all over the place on many copies. Just buy it! Dashing off to a meeting but will put up soundclip later.

Proper Garage music (what happened to that term) ...I agree jocko great term...from Paradise Garage. Now when the term is used it tends to be about scuzzy indie junk from just about any two-bit town in america....I love quasi-northern insiprational house...which is why i'm back sneaking away back to work too....

Oooh you've made me want to hold onto it now, I prefer one of the mixes on the Strictly release I think thats the US label - funnily enough first heard this played out - not by Humphries et al but by by Coldcut - (DJ food,Ninja tune) at a weirdy little warehouse in Kings x, they did an hour long garage set just to proove they could and it was amazing - Also played 4U by 4th minute measure men which is probably going way off piste for most Soulies but is deffo in my top five house tunes...

The first one came out on US Atlantic, but most copies skipped, think the different mix you talk about is on a compilation LP, something like Underground Dance Music, a brilliant comp, dashing now but will check details later on LP, some nice tunes for sale there young man, not true what Tef says about your taste after all
